Definitely hooked on this fantasy series!

Fantastic author complemented by an extraordinary voice performer. Todd's range of voices is nothing short of genius!
Can't wait for the rest of the series to be narrated by Todd!
Gonna go buy ebook part 3 right now...even though it's only 4:46am.

Surprising!

This book took some surprising turns! Action packed from start to finish, it's a completely believable story which takes place in an amazingly detailed universe. The narrator did a phenomenal job with differentiating the voices of the different characters, so they were easily recognizable. I can't wait for the rest of this series to be made into audio.

Even better than the first book

Would you listen to The Dragon's Eyes again? Why?

I would yes. There is such an interesting story and interesting events going on I'm sure I missed a few things the first listen through. I always relisten to books, and this will be on my list to throw into the mix. I love longer books, more enjoyable.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I still love Dylan and Ed, as well as Davina. Shinobo (spelling?) is mentioned a few times. I want a squirrel cat so bad.

Have you listened to any of Todd Menesses’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

yes and I love how many voices he does! I try to do some of them and I just cant do it. So many accents, so many pitches and changes. I think he was the perfect person for this job. I need to find all the audio books he does and listen to them all. I'm wildly entertained with his voice work.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

no, it's over 19 hours I have been listening to it when I fall asleep at night and to and from work, as well as on my pokemon adventures.

Any additional comments?

I hope there is a 3rd book, I like the worlds and the books idea and the signing of them. So many interesting things going on with magic and other worlds. So much could happen in the future with more books.

Rain NEVER Disappoints!

Another awesome title to add to my Rain Oxford collection. I never thought that I would really be able to get into the genre, but I absolutely love it! I have enjoyed every title in this author's collection. Most of Rain's works are pretty lengthy, so you really get to nestle in and enjoy a good adventurous story. The Guardian Series is fast paced, has just the right amount of creepiness for this genre and is superbly written. Todd Menesses does a great job narrating the audiobook, as usual, and I think that he and Rain make a great team.

This is definitely a good one to settle into over a weekend when you just want to veg out. But I know that I would have enjoyed it on a long road trip as well. Check Rain out if you haven't already and you only stumbled upon this title. But, definitely start with book one in the series.

Rain, add this one to the list of those titles you should feel proud of! Bravo!

A nice follow up

This was a great follow up. I loved getting to know the other worlds. Others have said this slows the book down but I really enjoyed it. I felt as though it brought more depth to the book and a potential catalyst for future events.

I also have a new favorite narrator! Todd Menesses does an excellent job. There is a lot of distinction between characters and I know immediately who is speaking. I look forward to hearing more of his work in the future.

Dragon book 2

Great follow up, great story. Fantastic narrator. I love how the characters develop. There were a few spots where the story lagged, but overall I enjoyed the book. Can't wait for book 3.

The Dragon's Eyes

Rain Oxford takes the readers through her entire universe filled with multiple worlds and a vast variety of cultures/societies. There are portions of the story where the world is described so well that I felt as if I'd transported there. Though the story all comes together in the end, the beginning through about 90% of it was discombobulated. The story is told from 4 different point of views and goes back and forth between those POVs within the chapters. If not for the narrator, Todd Menesses, I dont think I would have been able to follow. 🤗Fortunately, for audiobook listeners, he gives each character a distinct voice and brings their personalities to life. What I really appreciate is that the main character from this book (Dylan) and the main character from Rain's other series (Devin) have different voices. This makes it easy not to mix the stories up. Much much much appreciated as I've read a cross over book with both MCs. This book walks a fine line of being great and being overwhelming. I actually had to rewind a chapter or two so I could digest what was happening. There are two different story lines happening with multiple characters jumping from world to world. Add in some time travel and three different magic types (edna magic, nominal magic, and God magic) then you almost hit half of what this book entails. I love the complexity of the story, but this felt like two different books being read at the same time. Not just in the length but in the plots as well. Dylan, Mordon, Edward and so on... all the characters are good guys. I mean pain stakingly everything they do is responsible and politically correct. Dylan has to teach his own God how to be compassionate 🤣. Not saying g good guys dont make for good reading , but do they have to be so unrelatable in their perfection? It makes them feel like fictional characters... if I'm constantly reminded they are fake then I cant feel as strongly for them. I've cried about alien-werewolves in other novels because they felt more real than these dudes. This story also takes a darker turn than I expected and I'll have to read something more uplifting before going to the next. 3 Stars 🌟🌟🌟- Good Book. I like the overall concept and it was delivered well. Most common ranking for a book I enjoyed and look forward to the next.

Good development but way too much detail

I love character development, I love world building but the level of detail and dialogue in theses books is exhaustive. Not enough action and way too much of what people thought and the minute details of what they are eating and the origin of that food blah blah blah. Very good performance but I felt like I wanted more.

Good Story...

I enjoyed reading this series, but listening to them can be frustrating because of the over use of sarcasm/snark. The language isn't particularly sophisticated, even for a YA book.
