About this listen

The phone rings. It's your daughter. She's been dead for four months. So begins East Texas police dispatcher Ian Hunt's fight to get his daughter back. The call is cut off by the man who snatched her from her bedroom seven years ago, and a basic description of the kidnapper is all Ian has to go on.

Quite engaging ride, but disappointing ending. If ever a book needed an epilogue it was this one. Was tempted to write one for the review but it would have been a big “spoiler” for potential readers.

Quite engaging

The book looked like it would be been good, but I gave up at chapter 3 the narrators voice was grating, making it hard to listen.

Poor Narration

While the story was engaging enough to keep me reading to the end—primarily driven by a curiosity to see how it concludes—it was somewhat challenging due to the narrator's delivery.

Regrettably, I found myself not connecting with any of the characters; however, I am uncertain whether this was a reflection of the story itself or the narrator's portrayal. Notably, the narration of the female characters came across as particularly jarring.

Stayed until the very end, though just barely.

Gruesome details , the vulgar descriptions and similar voices. Too violent for my liking, didn’t need so much detail of the violence

Kept me reading but I don’t get why most American crime writers solve all their problems with guns

A good thriller but…

A very interesting storyline, however there are so many repetition and heaps of uninteresting and unnecessary details. Narration was not pleasant at all.

Too many repetition

Great story, narration was better when sped up. Nothing amazing but a decent read. Characters were a bit hard to relate to.

Good story narration needs to be sped up
