Publisher's Summary

One day she had everything - the next it was gone.

William and Amy love their busy city life, but when Will collapses on his way into work he decides enough is enough and moves his family to the country.

Three months later, Amy is standing outside Helmshill Grange, a sullen monstrosity of a house, deep in the Yorkshire moors. Within days, Will has traded in the Audi for a Land Rover and brought home chickens, goats, sheep, a serial-killer cat and a mad dog.

But when tragedy strikes, Amy finds herself living a dream that isn't hers....

A wonderful story.

I loved this story so much I didn't want it to end. I laughed out loud and cried . It's heartbreaking in parts. Hard not to . It's like a city versus country tale . And if you are an animal lover you will appreciate it even more , especially the dogs antics 🤣🤣 . I think this is Carole Matthews best , and I've read quite a few. I've bought the paperback so I can go back to it in a few months .
She's such a good writer, everything comes to life for me when I read her books. ❤

Such a sad but truly lovely story, makes me cry

The narrator was excellent, changing voice types for all the different characters in the book. I loved this book so much, I've read/listened to it 3 times over now

Wrong narrator

Lovely story, my first time reading Carole Matthews and I’m definitely loving her style. Only problem was the narrator. Her voice didn’t go with the younger main character. Rather spoilt the whole thing for me.
