Another classic banger by Joe Abercrombie! It smacks of modern tropes; the suicide squad, the last witch hunter, league of extraordinary gentlemen… it’s a fantastic mixture of comedy, tragedy and adventure. The twists are a little predictable to the veterans of historic fiction but it does not take any excitement from the story, nor does it over shadow the ADDED twists you don’t see coming. You’ll understand when you listen to this amazing piece of art! Enjoy

Everything I love about Abercrombie and Pacey. The characters are wretched and loveable, the humour makes me snort. The adventures are picaresque and the cynicism dripping. The descriptions are vivid. Everything is expertly brought to life by a master of voice. I enjoyed every minute.

Joe Abercrombie has become my favorite author, his writing style and character building is just suburb. Steven Pacey knocks it out of the park with his narration once again, these two are an amazing combo.

I can't wait for book 2, this is shaping up to be another fantastic series.
