Publisher's Summary

Big Little Lies meets The Party. Kylie Kaden is the freshest new voice in domestic noir.

'It seemed simple at first - folding one lie over the next. She had become expert at feathering over the cracks to ensure her life appeared the same. But inside, it didn't feel fixed.'

It happened the day of the Moon Festival. It could have been left behind, they all could have moved on with their lives. But secrets have a habit of rising to the surface, especially in small towns.

Two couples, four ironclad friendships, the perfect coastal holiday town. With salt-stung houses perched like lifeguards overlooking the shore, Lago Point is the scene of postcards, not crime scenes. Wife and mother Abbi, town cop Blake, schoolteacher Hannah and local doctor Will are caught in their own tangled webs of deceit.

When the truth washes in to their beachside community, so do the judgments: victim or vigilante, who will forgive, who will betray? Not all relationships survive. Nor do all residents.

Fantabulous

This was a great story - was not sure what to expect- but it was a wonderful written book- great plot. Congratulations Kylie - can’t wait for your next book.
Secrets and the complexities of life and the lies we live with and hide.
Great narration - and recording which is so important to me - I love Casey Withoos narration but one of her books I could not continue to listen because of the recording- hearing her inhalation .

Mystery with interesting characters

The story builds on the characters one by one. You know from the start that there is more there, but not the full story until the end... it’s a captivating mystery that you want to see unfold.
Great performance by the narrator.

Couldn’t stop listening!

Wonderful characters, great story line. Very believable.
Loved the interlocking of the characters, all very true of small towns throughout Australia.
Could wait to get back to it and see what was next for the characters. Great read. My husband even recommended it!

Took too long to get to the lies

Half way into the book and that's when you find out about the lies. Had this book for over an year, took multiple attempts to finish because the story line was too slow.

Once the action starts it's an easy listen but the first half of the book seems pointless.

A great little holiday read.

Initially I felt a little uncomfortable with the performance, however before I knew it, I was invested and lost in it.

Sadly this little seaside village is a figment of Kylies imagination, I would love to visit...it seems to be a blend of hundreds of sleepy little villages on the east coast of Australia with just enough familiar characters to do it justice, but with a squirming slimy secret.

A good story well told. I did not see “it” coming, but having grown up in a small coastal town just like it, found the whole mess believable and strangely familiar.

Enjoyable unpredictable read

The story is indeed starting a bit slow but it didn't bother me; once action begins, there are quite a few unexpected turns. Really nice to read Australian Authors, I even enjoyed listening to the acknowledgements at the end. The audio narration was pleasant to listen to. i would recommend this book

drag at moments but a kick ass story

I found the story dragged at times but overall a kick ass story. the drama the realisim keeps you needing to know more right to the very end when it all works out and you get it.

Mediocre

Loved the descriptive language of the novel but struggled with the story line and characters.

Easy to predict but...

I enjoyed listening to this book despite its predictability and slow beginning. Set in Australia, great narrator, focus on flawed characters saved it for me. It also raised controversial questions about morality and ethics which were interesting.
