Publisher's Summary

She was my first love.
She was my first hate.
The very sun in my world tried to burn me alive with her lies and cruelty.
Until I dimmed her light for good....
Or so I thought.

Now she’s back.
Cracked. Broken. Lost.
And for the first time in a long time, I feel free.
Free from our past. Free from my present that suffocates me. Free to destroy her future.

Her misery is my music.
Thrilling. Invigorating. Intoxicating.

For so long, all I’ve done is hate her.
So why do I love her?

This is K Websters best work to date!

MY THOUGHTS:
This is a hate to love story about accountability, healing and forgiveness. Learning to love again after loss.

This story was unlike anything I have ever read before, original and unbelievably fitting to today’s society issues. We get a front row seat into the tragic and heart-breaking reality of the effects of bullying and suicide.

Growth and development in the characters is intense and confronting, it makes you reflect on how you treat people. This book had a strong impact on me as a reader, showing the ugliness of people’s words and the effect they have on us. It only takes one loose thread to weaken the string making it fragile and easy to break.

The last chapter was difficult to read it literally gave me chills, goose bumps covered my skin and I felt heaviness in my chest for all the lost souls who thought they had no other option but to take their own lives. The words, the descriptions, the emotions, it was all so confronting and yet so powerful that I lost my breath for a moment.

The underlying message is in this story is loud and clear. Make yourself aware that bullying is a real living and breathing dangerous part of our lives, educate yourself to help prevent it, teach your loved ones to use their voice and be true to themselves and not follow in the path of others and most importantly be kind to others.

This is K. Webster’s best work to date and a must read!

description

Narrated by: Erin Mallon, Noah Michael Levine
Length: 6 hrs and 35 mins

Erin Mallon’s narration was the perfect match for her character, young, expressive and full of raw emotion. She is brilliant!

Noah didn’t work for me. There was nothing wrong with his narration. it just wasn’t a good fit for me, his voice was to mature sounding for Rome’s young character.

True to her style, K. Webster gives us another mindf*ck of a book but what made this one stand out for me is the semi-normal HEA. When I started I thought this book would be like all the others I've read by this author (btw that's a good thing) but by part 3 I realized how different this book was. I love how we got the entire story and when It ended I was satisfied completely. It's no surprise that K. Webster did it again, she always give me exactly what I need when I finish her books. If I listen to mostly HEA type of book I need these wtf books to help keep me from getting in a book funk and she always does exactly that.

The narration was 50/50 for me! Erin Mallon is my narrator crush! She can narrate anything and I would swoon! Noah Michael Levine on the other hand didn't really work for me in this book. He doesn't have the voice of a guy in his 20's so listening to him narrate Rome made his seem way to old. He did the angry Rome great though!

Heartwrenching

This work by K. Webster is gutwrenching and sadly, spot on regarding online bullying. Social media has made it too easy for cowards to target a victim and before you know it, gather almost a mob mentality. My advice is to grab tissues and get ready to cry. At first, I almost couldn't listen for this topic is difficult yet I'm glad I continued. Thank you Ms. Webster for a brilliant work that perhaps may just make a difference. One can hope.

Worth the listen

The only complaint I have is they mention Raven killing herself on every page. It was starting to really get on my nerves towards the end of the book.

a seriously good read

this book was recommended to me by a very good friend. I found the characters to be surprisingly complex and compelling. there are some decent plot twists and I think the narrator's complement each other well. This a serious love/hate storyline, it is deliciously sexy, and the ending leaves you satisfied.
***warning: some parts address suicide for those who need to be aware of triggers***

Sppechless

This book was absolutely amazing, original and full of so much. I found myself sneaking my airbuds in during work just so I could listen since I couldn't stop. The characters are full of so much depth and the story line takes a little twist every time you are least expecting it. The trials and tribulations that Rome and Courtney go through are mind boggling but Courtney's support system just fills my heart. The narrators did a great job bringing depth to the characters and really making you part of their thoughts and actions.

What is there to really say without revealing anything to this story line other than I doubt you would be disappointed once you immerse yourself in this book.

No words!!!

This is an amazingly beautiful story of how one act, one moment in time changed the lives of three people forever. This book touches on a lot of real life topics with bullying being in the forefront. The narration was incredible. These two narrators were perfect together they made all the emotions in this book that much more powerful. I highly recommend this listen!!

a story with a message

my only struggle with this audiobook was the male performer I wasn't a fan of his however it didn't take away from the story.
this book was a beautiful story of a romance that grew despite the misunderstandings and hurt of a past.

A little dark and a lot of angst

Audio-book: Narrators – Erin Mallon and Noah Michael Levine

These narrators do an exceptional job with this book! Filled with lots of dark angst and turmoil, both narrators brought the characters to life as their voices filled with hate, passion, anger, and love. I enjoyed every syllable of this story as Ms. Mallon and Mr. Levine shine in their presentation of Courtney and Rome.

This read pulled me in and kept me with its dark tone and super angsty drama. There were layers upon layers to this story and I was so anxious to just get to the end so I could learn what had truly happened. My emotions were all over this bully to lovers story, which is usually not my style. In order for this trope to work for me there has to be a true, heartfelt shift from the hero. I felt that Rome did indeed make the switch. Most likely because despite all the history between them, he has always been drawn to her. Although there wasn’t a lot of groveling on the road to forgiveness, I was satisfied with the outcome.

This has a lot of steam that is steeped in a bit of darkness, so beware. The secondary characters were necessary and vital to the story without taking over. I did feel that Courtney rolled over too easily for Rome in the beginning but through character growth she became a woman that could stand up for herself. I loved that about her!

Perfection in an audio

From page one, K Webster sucks you in and keeps you there with her brand of intrigue and poetic marvel. The serious issues she tackles will fill you with inspiration to do better in your thoughts, in your actions and in your words.

The chemistry between the 2 main characters is beyond. Just completely beyond. They hate and they love and because of that, it is explosive... every single time. It makes for a read that I just couldn’t get enough enough of.

There is a lot to learn from this book and I hope that everyone would give it a chance. It is College/NA. It’s not dark like the author is commonly known for... so appropriate for From page one, K Webster sucks you in and keeps you there with her brand of intrigue and poetic marvel. Erin Mallon was perfect for Raven and Courtney. Those characters were so different and she gave them both distinct personalities that shined. Noah Michael Levine was stellar. He had the gruff, angry voice that was needed for Rome. Excellent Narration.
