Publisher's Summary

Best-selling phenomenon Simon McCleave is back with a gripping, atmospheric new crime thriller series set on the Isle of Anglesey.

Will there be blood in the water?

Three years ago, DCI Laura Hart was the top hostage and crisis negotiator for the Greater Manchester Police. Then her husband was kidnapped. Despite her best efforts to reason with the criminals, he was brutally murdered.

Now living on the Isle of Anglesey in Wales, Laura is slowly healing. Then she gets a call: armed drug dealers have seized a tourist boat—and her 10-year-old son Jake is on board. There’s no other negotiator available, and the police need her to step up.

With the life of a loved one yet again on the line and memories of the last time she failed still searingly fresh, Laura is living her worst nightmare. Can she lay to rest the ghosts of her past in time to save her son?

An atmospheric, edge-of-your-seat story that’s perfect for fans of LJ Ross, Ann Cleeves and Elly Griffiths.

Omg loved it

Wow. I wasn’t sure at first. Being a fan of Simon’s other books this is a bit different. By the end I was hooked and can’t wait till I read more. I love that Simon showed empathy for mistakes other people make and can show the other side of remorse and consequences of the actions. It was a great read.

Very exciting from the start

I enjoyed listening to the protagonists backstory and how she is brought into her future. A great start to a series.

Absolutely fabulous

Now not only Ruth, but Laura. Wow! What a cracker of a book, Simon draws his characters so well and I now look forward to hearing more about Laura and her crew as well as Ruth. Narration is brilliant. Thank you. More please

Another great series for Simon McCleave !

Really enjoyed the new series, sad finishing Ruth Hunter series but I know Laura will be a terrific new Dectective Inspector in North Wales. I just love the way Simon describes the countryside, we ve been to Snowdonia but not Anglesey but now after reading 'The Dark Tide' I feel like I ve been there. Can t wait to read the next episode, I'm hooked !! great twist in the end !!! regards Karen from down under !

Good Story

Was a good story, though a few holes here and there within it. But overall a good filler when looking for a gritty cop tale from the UK and Wales.

A very disappointing outing

Not read any of McCleaves books previously and l won't be in the future. Any cops who use such poor flawed judgement would be fired from the job. simply crap.
Fiction is entertaining story telling - some authors have a flare for it others kill it off with unrealistic fantasy. This book is one of those that does the killing.
At the point where the excop becomes involved with a hostage situation involving her primary school aged son and calls his mobile l gave up on this book. Way to incredibly stupid to waste time on continuing
