About this listen

The complete Dark Road series in one collection.

Ben Davis was prepared for disaster. He just didn't know it would come so soon. He and his teenage son Joel, are miles deep in the backcountry of the San Juan Mountains when high-altitude nuclear electromagnetic detonations light up the pre-dawn sky. Ben, Joel, and their dog, Gunner, must make their way home - or whatever's left of it - on foot.

Okay, I’d read it for free, but I wouldn’t pay for it. Some of the descriptions are unnecessarily long and don’t really add to the story. The protagonist also has some pretty far-fetched ideas that don’t line up with reality—but I suppose having a well-meaning but not-so-bright main character is realistic enough.

Dumb protagonist

Story was below average. End of the world and nobody is out and about. Reality is that there would have been thousands look for food and water. I could go on but can’t be bothered.
Narration was grinding. Constant pauses and changes in levels at the ends of sentences. Voices had no depth or range.

A struggle.

Good adventure with a family on the road without the brutality of many in this genre.

Good clean post apocalyptic adventure
