About this listen

Royal flush….

Prince Adalard Ha’darra’s mission is simple - stay out of trouble while on Earth. His plans to enjoy his time with a few pleasurable distractions change when his transport is sabotaged, forcing him to land miles from Paul Grove’s remote ranch. When a stranger stops to give him a lift to his destination, he sees the colors of her aura and is stunned to discover his mate!

Samara Lee-Stephens has lived with the Lee-Stephens curse her entire life. Determined to break it, she focuses on earning enough money to one day leave her family’s reputation behind. She is furious when her stupid brothers drag her into their messed-up lives - by losing her in a poker game! As if her life wasn’t complicated enough, she soon finds herself fascinated by the Grove ranch’s newest client, who claims to be an alien prince!

Adalard and Samara discover that time may change them, but not their enemies. Can Adalard and Samara survive the challenges that threaten to tear them apart, or will their enemies succeed despite the precautions and sacrifices they’ve taken?

AUDIBLE
Though I loved listening to this and found it very full on, it is still not one I love or will relisten to.
But as I am listening over the Christmas season to them all in reading order of events, I have reached this one again.
The reading order doesn’t really matter as so many of these stories are running concurrently or overlapping in situations.
Just to long overall.
Though I understand all the things that happened and that they needed telling, the seven year separation gap is even worse through audible. I still did not feel a real connection between Adalard and Samara. I felt they both weren’t committed to being together for very weak reasons.
As I said in my book review, the seven-year break still feels too stupidly long, especially with the advanced technology available. And it especially doesn’t feel correct that no one from any of the worlds visited earth/the ranch, in those seven years, looking for prospective mates.
And the little bit of snark from Samara about alien infestation is funny, but within minutes she is having sex with Adalard, then within an extremely short time we have happy families as Adeline accepts her father after wishing he’d never returned.
BOOK REVIEW
Though I liked this, I just didn’t love it. Was just off for me storywise.
Ms smith is a master at blending her worlds together.
They way she has merged this story, especially as there is more than a few other stories involved, into the timeline is brilliant.
I just felt this lacked the impact I expected for what had happened previously.
The snippet we get at the end of book one didn’t translate in the same way in its own story.
I enjoyed Adalard and Samara’s story, I found them both strong characters.
I just didn’t understand or agree with why we have the seven year separation. That to me was majorly off and spoilt the story.
Especially as Adalard doesn’t achieve his objective and NEVER contacts or visits Samara, or has anyone in his family contact her.
Too unbelievable that nobody contacted or visited earth and Paul’s ranch in that seven years.
We get that bit of snark from Samara about alien infestation but within minutes she is having sex with Adalard.
I did enjoy the idiot brothers causing the sideline/ background part about Alberto Campeau.
At first I thought Samara weak for always giving in to them but at least she did step back eventually.
In full disclosure mode, I bought this via Kobo in 2021 and never read it until now. Life became a bit hectic and truthfully, Kobo has never been easy to use on my iPad no matter what they have advised me to do. So I truthfully forgot I’d bought this until I read CHRISTMAS FOR A GODDESS.
I am now off to read Jarmen’s Jane Doe.
First time I haven’t five starred a book by this author.

Not a favourite for me.
