About this listen

Creating George Stark was easy. Getting rid of him won't be....

The sparrows are flying again. The idea - unbidden, inexplicable - haunts the edge of Thad Beaumont's mind. Thad should be happy. For years now it is his secret persona, George Stark, author of superviolent pulp thrillers, who has paid the family bills. But now Thad is writing seriously again under his own name, and his menacing pseudonym has been buried forever. And yet...the sparrows are flying again, and something is terribly wrong in Thad Beaumont's world.

I love Stephen King, but this one gets a little slow in the middle - but trust me, don't give up on it. I just left it for a couple of months then came back to it, and in the end "couldn't put it down". The reader is excellent.

Stick with it...

You can’t help but wonder how much King was reflecting on his efforts as Richard Bachman when he wrote this. His insights into the creative process are woven through the story and you get a real sense for what it is to be a writer like King. You can’t fault King’s character creation and development in any of his books but he does a particularly good job here. I love seeing crossover characters from Castle Rock, too.

Stark or Bachman?

Really loved this tale and especially how bore down into the writers mindset posing the question it is the who writes the story, or the character driving the writers hand?

a unqiue take on persona duality

I like all the S.K novels I’ve read so far, honestly they’re all very entertaining and I’d recommend any of the 20 or so I’ve read. This one is no exception.

I’m not a reliable reference.
