Publisher's Summary

A pirate doesn't ask for permission - he takes.

When I see the delicate human female collared and enslaved by the smuggler I'm about to swindle, I do what any male would do. I take her from him. It's what I do best, after all.

Now Fran's mine, and I'm never giving her up. On board my spaceship, she'll be safe. She'll wear my clothes, eat my food, and sleep in my bed. I'll keep her safe from a galaxy that wishes her harm. But my sweet Fran wants nothing more than to return to Earth. How can I take her home when she holds my heart in her dainty, five-fingered hands?

Contains mature themes.

***So much fun***

Corasair's captive is a light, fun and easy listening story if a flamboyant pirates who steals and tricked his way around the universe. Than he wins a human slave Fran who becomes his mate. Love it Hollie Jackson and Mason Lloyd are excellent in their narratives.

Cute and sassy!

It was so cute. Pretty disappointed that Prison Planet Barbarian didn't come out first. It's the one that turned me into a Ruby Dixon fan.

I love that Fran was debated by life events, but still had fight left in her.

I loved that Kivian couldn't stand how inhumane she was treated. Still waiting for Prison Planet Barbarian.

Watching Slow Bantering Dating on a Space Ship

So I want to start by saying that I am on the third volume in Ruby Dixon's other series Fireblood Dragon and really enjoy them. For this reason I thought I would explore her other series and this had gotten excellent ratings and had less volumes then some of her others. However this really was not for me. One things was the narration which felt really hokey. Clearly this story has much more interjection of humor and snarky bantering but the male voice in particular maintains that tone of cheesy, I'm wagging finger gun hands at you and winking throughout the entire book even while he is saying things that are meant to be serious and filled with longing. It really made the story fall flat for me.

Ruby clearly has a very consistent theme in her books. Creatures that feel very possessive of their female mate, are constantly aroused by this female, are focused only on their pleasure, and only want to engage with this female when that woman is totally consenting and completely enjoying. Oh and with the possessiveness comes a desire to have the woman get pregnant with their child. While this is developed in the Dragon series slowly and with a larger context of a larger world and with characters that have significant depth, in this story it felt formulaic and almost fake. I really didn't believe the feeling the characters were purporting and again the narration didn't help.

Also the vast majority of the book was just listening to slightly flirty banter between the two characters with the sexy business not happening until the second to last chapter with 28 minutes left. And again listening to the male voice with a comical tone and bouncing lilt talk about his desire for the female's body just felt odd and almost laughable how incongruent it felt. I guess just wanting the voice to express the possessiveness it proclaims instead of discussing this material with the feel of someone beginning a joke, "Have you heard the one about..."

Overall I can't really recommend this, but understand if someone enjoys a lighter less character driven more comedic story this totally might be your jam, but I will not be continuing in the series though I will continue with Ruby Dixon's other series.

Duh, Fran! Bubble gum smut

Fran & Kivian’s story. Great novella for what it is: campy, alien romance. As much as I love narrator Mason Lloyd in the author’s Ice Planet Barbarian series, when I hear his voicing for the blue suede devils, I always picture them as the huge, exuberant, primitive lugs from planet Not-Hoth. It’s hard to think of Kivian as part of an advanced space-faring species. For this mostly sweet story, I guess the lovable-lunk voicing still works. Hollie Jackson’s narration is perfect for the camp, especially for Fran’s signature “Duh, Fran” explanations, that were both Homer-Simpson-Doh! adorable and annoying. Like most of her books, there are still occasional F-bombs, the use of the “C” word (how Dixon makes this cute and not offensive is impressive), and when the nooky finally happens, it is naughty. Unlike most of her books, however, this is a slow burn to a single smutty get-together at the very end of the novella.

I needed more.

This story is the first of a series of stand-alones but they flow as a connected series. They are enjoyed best read in order if you can, but it’s not essential.

Just be warned, this story is novella length and you should keep that in mind for your budget.

I loved the world building for this new-to-me series. The hero Kivian is cocky and smooth talking – to me his alien charm is Han Solo-ish; and the human slave Fran he rescues is resilient, open to ideas and his ideal partner. I enjoyed their chemistry and the initial sexual tension. However, I suddenly came to the end of the story and was surprised it was over. I had anticipated a disappointment leading to conflict and heartbreak as a consequence of an action Kivian took. However, that idea never took off. So for me, the lack of conflict, combined with the very early ending left me feeling the story was incomplete despite the epilogue.

That said, I bought the entire series in one go during an Audible sale and have been gradually moving through it. This couple appears in the subsequent instalments as secondary characters and so you can track their happy ever after for longer.

Mason Lloyd’s voice is beloved to me now for his work on the ICE PLANET BARBARIAN series. It’s so odd to hear him speaking without an alien barbarian accent in the CORSAIR novels. But he’s such a great talent I am learning to love him in a new context. Holly Jackson is amazing as always. It’s a joy to have narrators I admire to enjoy a whole new series with.

Fun-loving alíen pírate rescues the girl

I love this light hearted book. Space pirate captain Kivian steals a shipment- and a slave. He sets her free and they have pirate adventures. I love jovial Kivian, his teasing ways and charming manner- as well as his fancy shirts! If you’ve ready Dixon’s Ice Planet Barbarian series, you will recognize the Messakah species- giant blue aliens with 3 fingers, horns and a tail.

It was ok, glad it was a cheap purchase

I expected a but more from the story but it is what it is for just a few hours of entertainment.

I'm not a fan of the narrators and it seems Ruby Dixon uses them for a lot of her series which is unfortunate. I think both voice their characters too old in tone. I also had a hard time distinguishing between characters with both of them, along with what was external dialogue and internal dialogue because there was little to no change in tone.

Cute Romantic

This series was similiar to the Ice Planet Series. It however takes place on a ship rather than planet. The kidnapped girl has alot of fight in her but in need of rescue. She is rescued by a pirate she falls in love with. The story is quite short but has a creative cute way about it.
