Then the skill of divining harvests fell into ruin when sorcière Elena Boureanu was blindsided by a curse. Now, after breaking the spell that confined her to the shallows of a marshland and weakened her magic, Elena is struggling to return to her former life. And the vineyard she was destined to inherit is now in the possession of a handsome stranger.

Story
Lucy Hutton and Joshua Templeman sit across from each other every day...and they hate each other. Not dislike. Not begrudgingly tolerate. Hate. Lucy can't understand Joshua's joyless, uptight approach to his job and refusal to smile. Joshua is clearly baffled by Lucy's overly bright clothes, quirkiness, and desire to be liked. Now they're up for the same promotion, and Lucy, usually a determined people pleaser, has had enough: it's time to take him down. But as the tension between Lucy and Joshua reaches its boiling point, it's clear that the real battle has only just begun....

Story
In this prequel to Practical Magic, we meet the Aunts: sisters Frances and Jet, and Vincent, their brother. Their mother, Susanna, knew they were unique: pale, red-haired Franny, who could commune with birds; shy, beautiful Jet, who knows what others are thinking; and charismatic Vincent, built for trouble. Susanna sets some rules of magic: no walking in the moonlight, no red shoes, no wearing black, no cats, no crows, no candles and absolutely no books about magic.

Loved It!!!
- By Deon on 09-09-2019
Publisher's Summary
A beguiling novel of revenge, deliverance, and a powerful sisterhood of magic by the Washington Post bestselling author of The Vine Witch and The Glamourist.
Sidra didn’t murder her husband. Yet even a jinni can’t wish away a wrongful imprisonment. Determined to prove her innocence, she returns to her adopted home - a French village renowned for its perfume witches - with her friends Elena and Yvette by her side. Here is where Sidra’s true destiny awaits, but danger also lurks in the village’s narrow lanes.
On her trail is Jamra, another jinni, who’s after more than revenge for the murder of his brother. He also seeks vengeance for the indignities inflicted on jinn by mortals over the centuries. When he learns of an ancient relic capable of unleashing chaos on the world, and that the weapon is in the hands of his murderous sister-in-law, he vows to destroy Sidra to get it.
Relying on a sisterhood of magic, a mysteriously faithful dog, and a second-rate sorcerer, Sidra defends herself using the village’s greatest asset: its perfume. It’s as beguiling a lure as it is a formidable shield. But is it enough for Sidra to protect herself and those she loves from powers yet to be released?
Critic Reviews
“Jones' standard American accent contrasts with Assadourian’s light Middle Eastern cadence, which hints at the story's ancient mystery, and her tones, which allude to the underlying danger the sisterhood faces. The quest engages the imagination and the narrators increase suspense through wide-ranging emotional phrasings - from seeing the mystical Grand Pere in the forest to women’s whispered thoughts amid an incense burner’s gentle scent and cries of fear and enthusiasm as they call spells.” - Booklist
“Series readers and newcomers alike will be enthralled.” - Publishers Weekly
“Readers will enjoy catching up with the characters they already know. Smith (The Glamourist) does lovely work describing the luscious smells that Sidra works with.” - Library Journal

Fiery. Fragrant. Fantastic.
What an absolutely super story! It was like a brand new version of this amazing tale by Smith 2.0! It’s amazing to follow works of author and watch them grow even better with each book they pen. The gorgeous voices of Vaneh Assadourian and Susannah Jones where the perfect icing on this delicacy of a work.
⚖️ Plot: I’ve always been a huge fan of jinnis. The are so alluring and ooze magic in a way I cannot but be wrapped up in. And focusing on Sidra’s story took this plot to a whole new level of flame.
🗺 World: I was thrilled with the amount of culture and backstories that were included. With this, as with every book in this series, I feel truly worldly and enriched at the end of the experience. Great amount of research and brilliantly done.
💑 Characters: My only complaint was that my favorite Elena paled in comparison to the grand story and sizzling power of the jinnis. But this is to be expected given that this book did showcase Cidra more. She was incandescent here and I truly hope to see them featured in more books or spin-offs in the future.

a witch, a fairy and a genie.......
an unusual combination brought together by a wish. The third book in the series. I will say that I did not enjoy the performance by Vaneh Assadouian that much. Susannah Jones was spot on as always but Vaneh's reading seemed very forced. I may have just been used to Susannah's performance as the gen. a wonderful conclusion to the story but still leaves it open for more adventures.

just like it's predecessors
This series left me feeling satisfied. I like how I, the reader, was left in the dark for most events that perspired without the MC noticing. And to have all the loose ends tied up in the last chapter. Though, I had a feeling I knew who the dog was when he was introduced. I always enjoy the little hyperboles and metaphors the author incorporates when a character is being overdramatic, It tends to blend the difference between reality and the imaginative by forcing us to realise that there are witches and sorcerers and the alike. The only gripe I have is that if I was a impatient, angry, and overpowered villain, I wouldn't be to happy to be prolonged as much as he was. At the end I would have made situations a bit more grave.
