Average

I have liked Simon Brett but this story is average and one thing I don’t understand, why he was the narrator when the main character is a woman. Really bad form. Won’t read Simon Brett again

Extremely disappointing

I am usually a great Simon Brett fan but this was extremely disappointing. His other mystery series are so much better. I couldn’t even finish listening to this.

Easy listening great plot

I listened to this during lockdown and Simon Brett’s natural delivery made it sound like a friend telling me about it. I could see this as a play or tv drama and if you like Cynthia Harrod Eagles Bill Slider books you’ll enjoy the clever and mildly witty central character . A good listen .

A disappointment from one of my favourite authors!

So sorry but I simply cannot believe that this comes from an author whose previous books are full of wit, brilliant language and engaging plot. This, I found to be, some in-depth exploration of psychology where every character suffers from depression or some other mental problem. The actual storyline seems an incidental add-on. I listened to the end probably out of loyalty!

A Taste of things to come?

Having become totally addicted the Feathering Mysteries I approached this first offering in Simon Brett’s ‘new series’ The Clutter Corpse with a degree of trepidation…would it live up to my expectations and if more books were to follow would I become equally addicted ..well if this is a taste of things to come I needn’t have worried. Just the right amount of twists and turns with characters that are believable and have the potential to be further fleshed out in future outings. The writing is crisp and concise and the narration is as always first class . I can throughly recommend it.

Excellent murder mystery

Simon Brett does not disappoint, back with a new amateur sleuth Ellen Curtis. I really enjoyed this mystery. It touches on mental health issues and if it becomes series (I hope it would), I am looking forward to seeing more interesting cases, which also explore the psychology of behaviour. A different whodunit.

Slow and boring

I could not finish this book. It is hard to beleive it is the same author who writes the wonderful Charles Paris books. Simon Brett's narration is awful. The characters are dull and the story boring.
