About this listen

Harry is back, assigned to the LAPD's Open-Unsolved Unit with his former cop ally and partner, Kizmin Rider. These detectives are the Closers. They are thrown into a politically sensitive and dangerous case when a white supremacist is connected to the 1988 murder of a mixed-race girl.

The police department has changed, but one thing hasn't--Harry's nemesis, Irving. The former deputy chief has been pushed from power and given a virtually meaningless new role. Full of vengeance, Irving calls Harry a "retread". He watches from the sidelines like an injured bear, hoping Harry will make a mistake...

My love of Michael Connolly‘s work started late with the Lincoln lawyer. Loved all the Mickey Haller stories, more recently working my way through all the Bosch and Bosch-Ballard stories. Some of his best work seems to be amongst the earliest, when I started reading The Narrows I realised it should go back and read its origin story The Poet - they are now two of my favourites.

There’s some good stories to the end of the Bosch series that include Haller, but this one just seems to really drag even after 10 chapters. No good sleuthing or interesting plots. I’m a couple days off my ADHD medication, maybe I just can’t stick with it but it seems pretty dull.

I’ll give it a try another time

Plods for the first 10 chapters, I can’t take any more
