Story
An original short story about Jack Reacher, available exclusively in digital format (ebook and audio), following the success of last year's "Second Son". Early in his military career, Jack Reacher is ordered undercover in Washington, to discover which one of four women, all staff officers on fast track careers, is leaking secrets. The suggested method: get close to each in turn. The obvious problem: the most receptive will be the guilty one, with an agenda of her own - to kill the investigation ... and the investigator.

Story
Jack Reacher takes an aimless stroll past a pawn shop in a small Midwestern town. In the window he sees a West Point class ring from 2005. It's tiny. It's a woman cadet's graduation present to herself. Why would she give it up? Reacher's a West Pointer, too, and he knows what she went through to get it. Reacher tracks the ring back to its owner, step by step, down a criminal trail leading west. Like Big Foot come out of the forest, he arrives in the deserted wilds of Wyoming. All he wants is to find the woman.

Story
In this new exclusive short story, number-one Sunday Times best-selling author Lee Child goes back to 1989, when Jack Reacher is serving as an officer in the military police. A young lieutenant colonel in a stylish handmade uniform roars through the damp woods of Georgia in her new silver Porsche - until she meets a very tall soldier with a broken-down car. What could connect a cold-blooded off-post shooting with Reacher; his elder brother, Joe; and a secretive unit of pointy heads from the Pentagon?

Publisher's Summary
Random House presents the audiobook edition of The Christmas Scorpion by Lee Child.
Jack Reacher likes to head south for the winter, to stay warm, so just before Christmas he arrives in a small town in Southern California. But the weather there is not warm and dry, as it’s supposed to be: he arrives in a freak blizzard.
Reacher finds refuge in a snowed-in roadhouse with four other strangers stranded by the storm. Two of them are British military police, separated by the weather from the VIP they are detailed to protect. Can Reacher help them find their guy, or will an undercover assassin find him first?

Whilst the story was clever, I don’t think it was worth the price. Only 33 minutes. I love the Jack Reacher series and have every one of Lee Child’s Reacher stories.

Reacher's Scooby Doo Ending!
Excellent, I don't normally spend the money on short stories but after reading the collection a while back I fancied a little bit of Reacher to tide me over until the next one. I'm actually glad I did! This is classic Reacher, a Reacher being obstinate with authority conversation and some of his clever investigation with a suitably daft plot and a little bit of action all squeezed into a little over thirty minutes of Jeff Harding's excellent portrayal of Reacher and his fellow characters. The ending really is all a bit Scooby Doo but why not? It is the Christmas Scorpion after all!
