Publisher's Summary

Artificial intelligence leads to shockingly real devastation in this new novel in the number one New York Times best-selling Gray Man series.

Someone is killing the world's leading experts on robotics and computers. A desperate Russian scientist approaches Court Gentry and Zoya Zakharova to ask for their protection, but before they can help, they are attacked by a team of professional assassins.

They escape, but wherever they turn, it's clear that whoever's tracking them is always going to be one step ahead. With a danger of this level, there's no choice but to attack into the threat.

There is one man who may hold the answers to all their questions. But he's gone to ground in a fortress surrounded by a veritable army. If that's not bad enough, he has a new chief of security—Court's old comrade, Zack Hightower.

This is Controlled Chaos…

… told in a spellbinding fashion. When three artificial intelligence experts are murdered around the globe you get an idea right from the very beginning what is in store for this dynamic duo.
Following a “chance “ meeting between Zoya and her deceased father’s best friend Court decides it’s time to move on. Zoya doesn’t think that’s necessary, after all she’s thought of him as her uncle since she was a child. Unfortunately her uncle is murdered and the people who killed him having no idea what they discussed decide that she and Court need to be eliminated as well.
Meanwhile back in the US Zack Hightower has been brought back into the government fold. He’s been filled in on what they want him to know. He’s hired to protect another scientist in Cuba.
In other parts a billionaire with a vision of world peace has created some creepy robot dogs with weaponry attached to their backs along with tiny drones that carry heavy duty explosives. But his AI program has a quirk or glitch and is thinking for itself. In the midst of chaos there’s a skilled assassin hunting Court and Zoya. He’s a rather nasty fellow who leaves a trail of innocent victims in his wake.
This is like the movie I, ROBOT on steroids!! I would love to believe that this is totally fictional but with all the new artificial and virtual it’s just not realistic to hold on to that fantasy. There is so much going on in this book I have barely touched on only a few of the details.

Jay Snyder does a phenomenal job narrating. He’s another one I wish would do more in the mystery/thriller genre. He could never be replaced with a virtual voice.

This book has my VERY HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION!!

Outstanding Gray Man adventure, again

Another awesome adventure with Court Gentry. Great the whole band was back together, sort of with Zoya, Hightower, Hanley, Kincaid, Fitz, etc. having roles. Amazing locations especially Cuba and a tie-in to Wanchai, Hong Kong (hopefully Mark didn’t visit HK - where I live - without an appearance). And so real world with today’s biggest technology-enabled military threats. I can’t wait for the 14th instalment from the world’s best thriller author. Awesome nail-biting ending. Jay Snyder’s narration made it perfectly compelling. Oohrah!

Tom Clancy like

Soooooo, I still have 5 hours to go, and this is in my top five of this series, the characters build up just like the Tom Clancy Jack Ryan series is excellent, my only complaint is it’s not long enough, Mr. Greany? Please give me a audiobook around 30 hours, the build up was masterful and I’m not even done.

A great start to another Gray Man book, but was any editing done?

I am a couple hours in and I wonder if Jay is actually AI? A few examples include: 1) Zoya’s last name is pronounced different 2) Court is speaking Zoya’s lines 3) words like channel (as in TV) are pronounced like Chanel (as in fashion)

I do not want to take anything away from the story. Mark is one of my favorite authors, but someone should listen to the book before publishing.

what an anticlimax

The Chaos Agent.
Waited nine months for this.
The accents are terrible to the point of ruining the story which itself is weak and not up to usual high standards. disappointing doesn't come close.
