Publisher's Summary

Criminal defence lawyers must make their peace with one harsh fact of life: most of their clients are guilty.

Yet when William Tucker, a celebrated and self-centered star college football player, is suddenly arrested and charged with the brutal rape and murder of a college coed two years before, his broken-down, drunken estranged father, Frank, can't believe he's guilty. What father could?

But Frank is also an ex-criminal defence lawyer. Now Frank must find a way to sober up and save his son from the death penalty sought by an ambitious district attorney. Can a father's love for his accused son save him from death?

Another winner

I have enjoyed the previous books by Mark Giminez with mixed results. This book stands firmly in the excellent category. Well written characters and plot, combined with one of my favourite narrators from the Lee Child books.

The Case against William

If you like John Grisham you will like Mark Gimenez books. Well written, good story line and held interest to the last chapter.

b o r i n g

I have to be honest I have really enjoyed his other books...but this one?? No not really, yes I listened to it all the way through.
Why?
because it was Jeff Harding narrating it and I love his different voices that make the story live.
The story?
Totally obvious from the start, no surprises, no mystery and well really all it was is yarn about a kid who can play football very well and a lecture on not letting fame go to your head, keep your feet on the ground and respecting your parents, because they really LURVE you.. Pretty puke making and cliché ridden tripe nicely read. Poor old Jeff Harding
PLUS...
if like me you know nothing about, and care even less about American football, you won't have the remotest idea what they are on about.
Why didn't I return it??
Well I have returned quite a few lately and didn't want to push my luck, plus I did listen to it to the end.
One for the bin

Bored Rigid

I'm 30 minutes into this and NOTHING has happened. Where is the story? I feel like I'm listening to a drunk old man In a bar -who mistakenly thinks he can tell a story -describe a football game. Hey dude! This is billed as a thriller. Yawn

Enthralling Listen

I was drawn into this book from the beginning. The characters are believable (if not a little eccentric) the story unfolds with touches of humour and held me to the end.
As always Jeff Harding is exceptional in his narration, bringing the story to life.
My favourite author and favourite narrator, my only problem is - I have listened to all the books.
Thank you to both of them!

Great story provided you love American football

The story is very heavy on American football details at the start, but improves greatly.

Excellent in all respects

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Definately

What other book might you compare The Case Against William to, and why?

One or two of Grishams' have the same basic story line i.e good lawyer goes bad and then good again but that comparison can be made in all gendres after all there are only so many story lines the writers art is making their one individual

Have you listened to any of Jeff Harding’s other performances? How does this one compare?

Many - as usual his performance is superb - a true master of the art.

Decent story. As always, Gimenez uses engaging characters and as always, Jeff Harding reads it brilliantly. Good easy going legal thriller

Overindulgent and overwritten

A very disappointing book with endless irrelevant chapters and a plot so thin -- and overly sentimental -- that it was hard to maintain any credibility. And very poorly narrated.
