About this listen

An Amazon Charts bestseller.

Near an isolated mansion lies a beautiful garden.

In this garden grow luscious flowers, shady trees...and a collection of precious “butterflies” - young women who have been kidnapped and intricately tattooed to resemble their namesakes. Overseeing it all is the Gardener, a brutal, twisted man obsessed with capturing and preserving his lovely specimens.

When the garden is discovered, a survivor is brought in for questioning. FBI agents Victor Hanoverian and Brandon Eddison are tasked with piecing together one of the most stomach-churning cases of their careers. But the girl, known only as Maya, proves to be a puzzle herself.

As her story twists and turns, slowly shedding light on life in the Butterfly Garden, Maya reveals old grudges, new saviors, and horrific tales of a man who’d go to any length to hold beauty captive. But the more she shares, the more the agents have to wonder what she’s still hiding...

Started a little slow but then wow! Could not stop listening. The characters are engaging leaving you wanting more. Really great read.

Chilling but worth it

maybe all audio books are like this but i sure hope not. why have male & female narrators if you’re going to have the male do a teenage girl voice and the female do several older male voices??? despite the silly sounding narration i still managed to become so engrossed in the book and it’s become one of my favourites.

Had me from the second I started listening and couldn’t stop. Doing ‘life’ kinda got in the way, but I consumed it over a few days and I’m not sorry. Never read a story like it, a little worried butterfly’s have been ruined forever, especially my butterfly tattoos!! But it’s forgiven for such an enthralling story.

Had me in a chokehold, couldn’t stop listening

If you like your books dark, twisty, and easy to read, you'll enjoy this one 😊

this book was so well written, I think. Not too much detail but just enough to have you squirm in places. The narrators were very pleasing to listen to and felt they suited the storyline and characters. I'd love to see this made into a movie.

love love love

The narration is terrible and I feel like it could be so much more. There is just something lacking in the storyline and the characters have no depth….

Good idea and story line but…

I don't know how this book hasn't been made into a movie yet. It played out in myind in vivid detail. Chilling, captivating and dramatic. I loved the narration and Maya's whit, character and very forward personality. Thoroughly enjoy this story.

I was hooked the entire time!!

It was a creative book, tactfully handling disturbing themes. At times too reliant on dialogue, therefore reading a little bit like a YA fiction. Overall pretty but tragic to read, the ending was a let down however. Seemed rushed and too dramatic. The lead, Maya/Inara, was at times unlikable due to her constant "I'm not like other girls"-esque dialogue, but she grows to be more likeable towards the end. The start of the audio book also has some skips but I'm not sure if that was just me?

Disturbing, finale was disappointing, but creative

It was a great book and interesting concept which I really enjoyed. I didn't love the readers voice personally but the storyline was interesting enough to make you forget.

I really enjoyed this book
