Let me explain...powerful binge cravings are a natural and normal side effect of food restriction. If you've ever restricted your food intake in your past (e.g. a diet, a detox program, cutting out carbs, etc.), then you may have triggered a primitive natural survival mechanism we call "primal hunger". This leads to powerful binge urges, an insatiable appetite, food obsession, depression, and anxiety. Your body thinks you're in the middle of a famine, and it's doing everything it can to make you eat lots of food. By purging your food, you remain malnourished, and your body is stuck in "primal hunger" mode.

There are better books on this topic!

'The Binge Code' by the same author is much better, perhaps because it is more recent. I found this to be quite basic, superficial and somewhat outdated in its information. For people struggling with bulimia and really wanting to recover, I also highly recommend 'Brain Over Binge' by Kathryn Hansen. This is an incredibly helpful book that is also available on Audible.

The missing link

I found this book after listening to a you tube video with the author and Kathryn Hansen who wrote "Brain over Binge" I feel like this book tied everything together for me and I have not had a binge in many many weeks. About 6 weeks at this writing. That is the longest I have gone not binge eating for 44 years. It is a wonderful easy to listen to book. It is read by the author. He has a very nice voice and accent. I highly recommend this book.

I would be lost without this book.

I've been listening to this book for a few weeks now, night and day. I feel like this has helped me so much with kickstarting my recovery. After 5 months of amenorrhea due to my ED I finally got my period back. I'm slowly but surely getting my life back. Food is finally not a top priority and my binging episodes have decreased dramatically. I can finally live and breathe. I'm so happy I found this book. So thankful!

this book has truly helped me to stop my bulimia.

I have been bulimic for 13 years and I have been a member of Overeaters Anonymous for two years. I have not found any lasting physical recovery in OA .I downloaded this book as a last-gasp before getting on depression medication. immediately my symptoms have left me and I have been binge Purge free ever since. I'm sure that there is a possibility of relapse within my recovery however I have not felt this hopeful in a very long time. this book has uplifted me and told me that I can recover and that I am not powerless over food.

Bulimia selfhelp

An incouringing and inspiring guide for those who suffer or are close to someone with an eating disorder. Definitely a book to take in an account when going through a recovery.

Great practical resource for real recovery.

I really liked the focus on structured eating leading to intuitive eating. It is a step by step resource that leads you to recovery.

If you need to understand dealing w emotional eating? I recommend "End Emotional Eating". This helps us to sit with out uncomfortable feelings instead of eating. And "Brain Over Binge Workbook" is a great resource to really heal your brain and say no binge urges.

Nothing new

I've read too many books like this. it's always the same, just get a therapist, nutritionist, and go to a doctor. I put it off and thought books like this would help for too long.

If only I had heard this advice 35 years ago.

This book is easy to understand and it feels like common sense. I tried different therapies before and in all of them without exception, I felt like the approach was meant to coddle the ED instead of helping me become free of it. I struggled so much alone, and wish someone had spoken these simple truths to me. I have overcome this ED for the most part based on my desire to live, but it’s been a long, hard, confusing and lonely road. The ED still haunts me once in a while; and it’s mostly a bad relationship with food that lingers . This book has helped me understand that I was never broken, nor hopeless, nor crazy. I just needed help. I needed to know how to recover. I am so very thankful that I have come across this book. I look forward to my 100% recovery. It’s like a veil has been lifted from my faulty understanding of the ED that I’ve struggled with for 35 years. I feel a welcoming sense of hope and peace. I have not felt this in much too long. I am thankful for the valuable insights by the author. For the simple but powerful truths he shares. I needed to hear this book and I date believe this book can save lives.

Really helpful as a self-treatment

I was suffering from bulimia for the last 4 years. I was really in a bad place when I decided to buy this book and learn more about my disease. When I started listening to it, the first weeks my bulimia got worse, but after those 2 weeks I had time to process and accept all the things and truths stated in the book and followed it's instructions. It's been 3 months since then and I hadn't had any bulimic episodes. I believe this book changed the way I think about food and weight loss and thus, I have found peace on the matter. I'm really confident that I have been healed completely thanks to this book. Definitely recommend it as a self treatment if you are suffering from bulimia and if you know someone who does, you should definitely gift them this book.

Might be helpful, but the narration is terrible

I wanted to like it and find it useful, however, I couldn't listen past the first 20 minutes. The narrator is not modulating and his pronunciation is really strange and made me feel uncomfortable.

Life changing

Please get this book.
I have been suffering with eds now for over 10 years, I had given up hope and now I have hope again. Ive just finished it and I’m going back to the beginning.

If I can recover, anyone can and I truly believe I will now. I have just discovered that there is nothing wrong with me. Everything is right with my body and I am now going to trust it.

Life changing..

I have been Bulimic for 24 years and having read The Bulimia Help Method, for the first time eating is starting to change for me.. I was at an all time low when I searched for a self help book. I'm three weeks in and feel/know that I'm in recovery. I feel really supported with the regular email contact and other people's recovery stories.. A great book if you struggle with Bulimia, thank you.

Amazing !!

I was sceptical at first , because nothing else has worked !! I am 3 months into the program , I have never felt as good ! My binge / purge circle is nearly non existent !! I have a few relapses no and then but nothing near what I was like before this book !! If you are looking to recover from bulimia then this is the book for you , I strongly urge anyone who has tried everything and nothing seems to be working to try this book !! I have had days without thinking about food , which is amazing for me !!
Please please please go and get this book I cannot rave about it enough !!! :)

Couldn’t recommend more

I thought I would never be able to get past my bulimia and would keep relapsing when I tried to stop but this book helped me understand why it had all started and how to recover, permanently. It has been nearly a year since following the bulimia help method and I am so thankful and grateful to Richard and Ali Kerr for helping me recover from bulimia. I never thought I’d be able to. It has changed my attitude toward food and truly made my life enjoyable again.
If you have tried things before and they haven’t worked, follow this help method and you will not regret it. I was desperate to stop but I just couldn’t until I followed this book.

Fantastic audiobook with great tools that work to finally overcome bulimia

It’s a very special book written by Ali who’s a former bulimic who did it! She’s fully recovered and now sharing her journey based on scientific research and personal experience. It’s gentle and common sense. Lots of “aha” moments that can create a shift in the thinking process. Highly recommend to anyone suffering from bulimia or therapist dealing city clients with Eaton disorders.

A recovery method that works

I'm now a month into the recovery program and so far the book has been spot on. Logically it all makes sense as you read it, but when you start the method, step by step, it all clicks into place and makes a huge difference in your life. It isn't easy, but it is so worth it.

Very inspiring

I'm terrible st writing reviews, but I found this audiobook so good. I listened to it on holiday and I'm sure I dropped some weight just by knowing that starving or restricting what I eat plays a huge role in my weight. There's a bit in the book about an experiment on some army men, this was so profound for me I listened to the section over and over. I haven't started the steps yet but just having listened to the book I'm feeling more positive about my recovery. Thanks to Rich and Ali Kerr.
