About this listen

Noah Tanner loves life and the gay men who live it. Bisexuals rock too. Questioning? Even better. One-offs come and go like dates on a calendar, but his friends and his calling never do. He's spent years raising money for San Francisco's homeless in honor of the boyfriend who died.

Ensuring the success of his upscale charity event is currently job one. He's closing in on his goal, but the deliciously scruffy, oh-so-sexy Bachelor Bid contestant, Dr. Kyland Davis, is proving far too distracting.

Former Texan and no-nonsense surgeon Ky Davis prefers his beat-up Stetson boots to Louboutins. He's sacrificed a lot to help raise his siblings - including keeping his orientation a secret. After a difficult year for his sister, he'll do anything to see her smile again, even agree to participate in the fundraiser she's been hired to organize.

Unfortunately, the accompanying makeover by the irreverent and gorgeous Noah Tanner might be his undoing. Contains mature themes.

The Boyfriend Makeover is hands down my favourite book in the series. From start to finish, it completely had my heart.

Noah’s story really hit me emotionally. River Jaymes does such a beautiful job of showing the weight of everything he’s been through with great insight and sensitivity. Underneath Noah’s self deprecating jokes his vulnerability, self-doubt, and quiet strength felt incredibly real, and I found myself drawn to him from the very beginning. It’s one of those books where you don’t just understand a character — you feel for them deeply.

Ky was the perfect counterpart to Noah in every possible way. He’s strong, dependable, and forthright, but also genuinely kind and deeply caring. What I loved most about Ky was how steadfast he was — instead showed up consistently himself and so honest offering exactly what Noah needed. Their dynamic felt incredibly satisfying to watch unfold.

The sensuality in this book was beautifully written and deeply connected to the emotional journey of the characters. The intimate moments were so hot 🔥🔥🔥. River Jaymes writes closeness and desire in such a way that adds such beautiful depth and warmth to Nosh and Ky’s relationship.

The relationship development was beautifully paced, emotionally rich, and full of quiet moments that carried just as much impact as the big ones. The writing flowed effortlessly, with natural dialogue and perfectly placed emotional beats that made the story a joy to experience from beginning to end. This book felt warm, affirming, and deeply romantic in the best way. For me, The Boyfriend Makeover wasn’t just a great addition to the series — it was a standout. Truly a perfect read, and one I won’t forget anytime soon.

Loved it!

Wealthy philanthropy organiser Noah Tanner is smart and sassy. He has a rule that he never sleeps with the same person twice. But under his glib façade, Noah still grieves for his former boyfriend who died of AIDS. He wants to rope Texan surgeon Dr Kyland Davis into a bachelor auction fundraiser and Noah is determined to give him a total makeover before the big day. Ky escaped Texas after an altercation with his stepfather over his sexual orientation and he’s kept his sex life a secret ever since. Can Noah and Ky overcome their pasts to find happiness?

I’d been looking forward to Noah’s story and this slightly angsty, coming-out trilogy finale mostly hit the spot. As usual River Jaymes slowly peels away the layers from both characters to get to the root of their issues and it’s a satisfying process. I found this dragged a little but the bachelor auction was totally worth the wait. I’ve enjoyed Marc Bachmann’s audio narrations throughout the series and did here too. A fitting finale to an engrossing series
