About this listen

She's looking for the perfect man. He's looking for the perfect victim.

Sydney Shaw, like every single woman in New York, has terrible luck with dating. She’s seen it all: men who lie in their dating profile, men who stick her with the dinner bill, and worst of all, men who can't shut up about their mothers. But finally, she hits the jackpot.

Her new boyfriend is utterly perfect. He's charming, handsome, and works as a doctor at a local hospital. Sydney is swept off her feet.

Then the brutal murder of a young woman—the latest in a string of deaths across the coast—confounds police. The primary suspect? A mystery man who dates his victims before he kills them.

Sydney should feel safe. After all, she is dating the guy of her dreams. But she can’t shake her own suspicions that the perfect man may not be as perfect as he seems. Because someone is watching her every move, and if she doesn’t get to the truth, she’ll be the killer’s next victim...

Editorial Review

A perfect match or a perfect trap?
In this chilling thriller, readers are thrust into a heart-pounding narrative that explores the dark side of modern dating. Sydney Shaw, like many single women, has had her share of dating nightmares. But when she meets her new boyfriend—a handsome, successful doctor—things finally seem to be falling into place. The romance feels too good to be true, and as it turns out, it just might be. The backdrop of a serial killer stalking women adds a chilling dimension to the plot. The novel excels at tapping into universal fears about dating, particularly the vulnerability that comes with opening yourself up to someone new. The slow reveal of the killer’s identity is masterfully handled, with just enough red herrings to keep readers guessing until the final, heart-stopping twist. —Dawn G., Audible Editor

Thought I had it, but nope 😂

The twist was absolutely awesome. Completely thought I figured it out but apparently not! I audibly gasped

Twist at the end

It was a bit girly but good twist … great for a long drive or mowing lawn

Nice twist

The book was spoiled a little by the annoying, shallow and vacuous Sydney. I thought at first that she was early twenties but was surprised to find that she was almost thirty five. I won’t mention her appalling mother. Tom was the most interesting character to me. This is not the type of book I usually read but it was quite good although somewhat unbelievable.

The thriller that keeps you hooked.

The ending is particularly shocking. Without giving too much away, it completely subverts expectations, making you rethink everything that came before. If you enjoy dark thrillers with unpredictable endings..

The twist was a bit predictable but still a fun story

Had me hooked from the first page. Really enjoyed listening to this book. I picked the twist at the end so a bit disappointing. A very well written story and character development was strong. I would recommend this book and to listen to it at 1.5 X.

The Plot Twist

I liked how the past and future PoV connected. And usually after reading so many thriller novels , you can predict the ending and the plot twist, but not for this novel,at the ending,I got one whiplash after the other.

Loved the twists

I had to listen every moment I could find time. The need to know who was doing what throughout this story had me hooked.
I was not disappointed & the epilogue was just the right finishing touch.
