There is no doubt Sean Barrett is a master narrator. His voice is perfect for this 1930s Russian detective series. Korolev and the whole cast of characters are enjoyable and well rounded. The story is suitable complex and the pace perfect.

I thoroughly enjoyed this second book by William Ryan for the same reasons as I enjoyed the first book: well-drawn characters, a terrific plot and excellent descriptive writing. An interesting insight also into revolutionary Russian culture and times. Highly recommend the series.
