Story
Detective Inspector Logan McRae is finally getting back on his feet after the events of the last few years. Putting things behind him. Getting better.… But it was never going to last. A body turns up on the outskirts of Aberdeen: burned from the neck up, hands chained behind the back. More murders follow - all gruesome, and with only one obvious connection. The similarities between the real-life killings and the plot of a best-selling novel about witchcraft seem more than coincidental, but the more Logan digs the more dangerous and blurred the line between fact and fiction becomes.

Publisher's Summary
Some things just wont stay buried.
The number one Sunday Times best-selling author returns with the much anticipated new Logan McRae thriller.
What drives someone to murder?
Logan McRae's personal history is hardly squeaky clean, but now that he works for Professional Standards he's policing his fellow officers.
When Detective Inspector Bell turns up dead in the drivers seat of a crashed car, it's a shock to everyone. Because Bell died two years ago. They buried him. Or they thought they did.
As an investigation is launched into Bell's stabbing, Logan digs into his past. Where has he been all this time? Why did he disappear? And what's so important that he felt the need to come back from the dead?
But the deeper Logan digs, the more bones he uncovers - and there are people out there who will kill to keep those skeletons buried. If Logan can't stop them, DI Bell won't be the only one to die.

Brilliant narration of a brilliant novel
MacBride is an instant buy for me and THE BLOOD ROAD is another excellent entry in a series that seems unstoppable.
Clever and crackingly funny, THE BLOOD ROAD is wonderful audio entertainment. The narrator is perfect for the read and knows exactly how to lean in on the sarcasm and humour when it is needed.
P.S. I have picked up quite a few good new insults to hurl at my teenagers. Bonus!

Gut clenching story
All the gang in a disturbing tale of good cops and evil people. This book is scary and bleak. Logan is a lovely miserable git and again, Roberta Steele, Tufty, and Rennie supply a refreshing distraction from all the emotional horror in this book. A great story Mr MacBride but I hope the next installment isn't as harrowing.

What happened?!
I love this series and was quite excited when The Blood Road was released. However, it fell flat for me. Even the narration was off and Steve Worsley had been flawless up to this point. It sounded as though he had forgotten the character voices. Logan didn't sound like himself and Robertta, wasn't even close. I found that a distraction trying to figure out who was speaking.
No spoilers here. When "you know who" was brought in I found that hard to swallow and was never given much of a reason for the choices he made.
Reny is under used and in this one his personality was not in line with past stories. Roberta is such a great character and again her role seemed limited and the conversations between she and Logan were repetitive. Banter only goes so far.
I will give another installment in the series a go and hope it gets back on track.

Another great Logan McRae book
It’s hard not to like this series of books, the flawed characters are easy to identity with, in fact it’s quite possible you know someone at work just like one of them. It goes deeper than just the characters and storyline though, the subject matter is at times hard going and tackles a number of emotive issues during the course of the book. The plot is complex and you’re always left wanting more, whenever you press pause.
All in all a great read!

Wow, I needed that
I LOVE Logan McRae and every single character in his world, right down to Kthulu the cat. There’s something about the way MacBride puts words together that makes me feel connected to his characters in a way that few authors can. This time out we meet a sadder, harder Logan, still talking to himself and Kthulu, tentatively exploring a new relationship, working in Standards and Practices and dealing with the most evil denizens Aberdeen has to offer. Steve Worsely is outstanding as always. Hope it never ends!

Definitely one of the best of the LM Series
Enjoyed the fact that in this novel there’s more focus on the case(s). Less outside stress with personal lives. Lots of call backs to old characters and tie ins to a few. Less DS Steel in this one, but I’m guessing it’s by design for the readers that have been strict to the chronological order and read/listened to Steel’s “spin-off” book before this one. Recommend you do that btw. Gives you a better feel for a few of the secondary characters if you do. Sad that I only have one left till a new one comes out. But can’t hold off. On to the next one..

Stuart MacBride is King of the Series!
1/2way Into this book 11 of the Logan McRae series, had to note S.M. is king! He is masterful in turning a single novel into a saga that spans the life and times of fabulous characters and drama that pops right out of the best and worst of the human condition! Blood Road tackles the worst case of current events in police lore, human trafficking. Outstanding and shocking insight into a facet of the horrid tales that are only now having the light shone upon them. Human trafficking is a reality whose depth and breadth is unimaginably wicked and ever present in the early 21st C.

Blood Road is end of the road for me
This was my least favourite Logan book! Took ages to get through it as I had no eagerness to listen unlike previous books in the series.
The relationship between Logan & Steel is one of the best things about this series and the lack of it in this book had a huge impact for me.. missed the banter. Found I’d lost connection with Logan too and his lack of familiar connections in this book made it less interesting.. I didn’t care about the characters. There was no rapport.
The story line wasn’t great either. Paedophile rings ..who was going to enjoy that story line. Weakest one for me and possibly the end of the road. Shame as I was so into Logan & Steel

Together Again
If you are listening to this you have probably listened to the other Logan McRae books too - you’ll know what to expect and you’ll get it. But this is particularly fun because the whole gang are reunited (“whoot”) and as wonderfully funny as ever. The plot satisfies all the hints dropped in previous books. I’m only a little anxious that there may be a slight suggestion of finality in the getting together of our favourites into an ultimately well functioning unit but I am really hoping there will still be many many more stories with McRae, Steel, Rennie & Tufty et al. Please?

Where has Logan gone!
I've read all the Logan Macrae books and really enjoyed them, but he's not what he was.
McBride seems to be slowly emasculating the rich, warts and all nature of him. He is no longer the gritty fly by his pants man. He, and all MacBrides characters don't even swear anymore, with the most daring expletive being Motherfunker!
I feel we are witnessing the death throws of a brilliant character, his believable qualities all but gone.
His involvement with the dodgy world is not even mentioned anywhere now, completing the sanitisastion of such a previously rogue hero.
I expect Logan to become a Vegan next, for him to have joined Extinction Rebellion, and doing good works, tree hugging maybe??
RIP Logan😢

The blood road Stuart McBrides best yet
Gripping and excellent narration I - so good I didn’t want it to end. So many twists and turns. A story of tragedy and cruelty but as with most McBride books interspersed with wit and humor- totally believable. Can’t wait for the next Logan and Roberta outing - first class.

Logan McCrae TheHero Again
A very dark story where it is impossible to feel sorry for any but the most obvious victims.
Great to have Steele and Logan together again and sidekicks Tufty and Rennie add to the fare.
Steve Worsley ,once again, does more than justice to MacBride’s gritty prose.

Another great Logan McRae book
I love all Stuart MacBride's 'Logan McRae' books. He is a brilliant writer with some wonderful and funny 'sayings' between the characters, especially Logan and Steele. These books are all brought to life by Steve Worsley. He is a wonderful narrator and I couldn't imagine these stories being read by anyone else. Fantastic combination of writer and narrator!

Brilliant
My favourite so far. Some of the content is difficult to listen to due its nature (no spoilers). Fast paced, deals well with sensitive topics and is simply an amazing read. Narration by Steve Worsley is excellent,

Hooked straight away
Story line fab, twists & turns, I felt anxious at times ...what’s gonna happen! Thought characters were great, love all the dry humor. His writing gets you really hooked in & theres a belief it really happening
Can’t wait to read another of his.
AMAZING ♥️❤️♥️❤️♥️
