Publisher's Summary

The Black Moon is the fifth novel in Winston Graham's sweeping series of Cornwall, Poldark.

Cornwall, 1794. The birth of a son to Elizabeth and George Warleggan serves only to accentuate the rift between the Poldark and Warleggan families. Poldark fan

Enjoyed this book probably the most of the 5 so far but really enjoying the series. Looking forward to hearing the rest.

The saga continues

Wonderful! Took a little time to get into but soon had me hooked. The ending has me looking forward to the saga continuing. The narration is as artful as the previous instalments of the Poldark books, the character voices bringing the story to life as before. Recommended for anyone who has enjoyed the previous Poldark stories. I only gave four stars because it's a little slow at times with the telling of historical details I felt irrelevant to the lives of the characters but that's not to be a great deterrent. I'm straight onto the next installment!

A book between books

This book jumps almost a year from the last book and has some new characters. Ross is maturing as is Delmelsa although we don't get to see much of her in this book. The French Revolution is a big theme in this book but the book falls almost into a romance novel. Nice, but not as good as the first few books. Almost a joiner between books and there is only good for Ross as he regains lost ground from the last few years. Not a bad book, but not the best.

Poldark's story

Where does The Black Moon rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I've listened to the previous books in the series and enjoyed them all. This book was equally as good.

Any additional comments?

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good old fashioned Cornish tale

Excellent in every way.

The narrator sounds so like the TV series characters that the book is a rare visual treat. Although George Warleggan really sounds like Stuey from Family Guy.

Great story, well told.

Fantastic as always

Super story as always and Oliver is a great reader but he should take advice from a native Frenchie for pronunciation! Never mind that though, it's nothing compared with his great reading of a brilliant story

Marvellous Poldark Saga

Is there nothing Winston Graham can't do? I'm just about to start on Book 6 of this saga from Audible (I read most of the Poldark books years ago) and can't wait! His characters are so human, believable, wonderful, fallible and, in some cases, horrible, it's a joy to meet them and discover what they'll do next. They've never let me down yet!

Book 5 and still top quality.

This is the most action packed of the novels so far and I'm looking forward to reading Book 6. I don't want to give anything away regarding the plot for those who have not read it or watched all the TV series but this one has a touch of the 'Sharpe' novels with Ross back in military action. It's as good as the first 4 books and is excellently narrated.

Gripping and very interesting

I very much enjoyed this book like the others in the series. The details, the descriptive and the gentle pace of the story.

Excellent story read by an excellent narrator. I am definitely looking forward to next one!
