About this listen

THE PERFECT FAMILY

Sheila O'Rourke has always known her husband isn't perfect. Who is? But things have been better since they moved to Seattle to make a fresh start. So much so that when 16-year-old Eden turns up, claiming to be Dylan's child by another woman, Sheila tries to be welcoming.

CAN BECOME

At first, Sheila feels sympathy for the girl. Eden's mother recently fell to her death in an incident with unsettling parallels to Sheila's past. Still, Eden is a difficult house guest, sowing discord among the family. Sheila has already been on edge for weeks, receiving anonymous texts, noticing odd noises coming from the house next door. And that's just the start.

A PERFECT NIGHTMARE

Sheila wants to trust Dylan. She wants to feel safe in her own home. But no one can hurt you more easily than the ones closest to you...the ones you keep believing until it's too late....

TERRIBLE performance by the narrator, she sounded like she was telling kindergartners a story!
The story itself was okay, pretty good with a few twists and turns but a little predictable.

Terrible narration, decent story.

Strange implausible story that was bereft of psychological depth and full of improbable truths. Fun to listen to but wouldn’t recommend it to friends.

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this great story. Lots of twists and turns and not predictable at all !

I found the narrator’s voice did well at providing the drama and a sense of urgency through her narrative. Highly recommend.

This book was an interesting story and it kept me interested, but the two leads were both a pain.

Dylan, the POS husband who caused all the drama because he couldn’t keep it in his pants.

There was also a lot of questionable situations revolving around practically every female in the plot

Annoying Lead Characters but Entertaining Thriller

story was good, easy to listen to and follow. narrator at times sounded like she was reading a children's book, lacked some of the intensity required for the story line.

loved that it all came together

Seriously? If I’d had anything else to listen to on a long drive I wouldn’t have bothered. Implausible and insulting to women.

The storyline was good, the book was ruined for me by the narrator’s overly dramatic carry on. I heard myself constantly saying ‘omg. shut up’. She made the character pathetic and hard to relate to.

Narrator ruined it for me
