Publisher's Summary

The first Wilde's book. Go back to where it all began....

Jon Beatty thought he'd found the best man for him until Craig walked out. To add insult to injury, Craig's got a new lover - a woman - and wants Jon to be a different kind of best man...at his wedding.

Reasoning that the only way to get over one man is to get under another, Jon heads out to Wilde's, the night club on Capitol Hill famous for its hot clientele and hotter bartenders. Jon just wants to get drunk and get laid, and bartender Liam Sable is more than willing to help with both.

Their one night stand turns into a rebound fling, but as Jon moves on with Liam, Craig starts having second thoughts about the break-up. His tiresome antics are the least of Jon and Liam's worries, though. The least annoying, and the least dangerous....

Wow!

Because I really like L. A. Witt, I purchased this audiobook without reading any reviews. I did go back and read some before writing mine. Some mention that there's too much sex in the story. Although l might agree with that, they were all really hot!!! And the story was well written with a true plot line, not just endless sex. I really liked both Liam and Jon.
Zachary Andrews did a great job with the narration. He seriously made the sex scenes sizzle. He really managed to make me feel all the emotions he was reading. His voice portrays seduction extremely well. I have to find more books he's narrated now!

Outstanding audiobook

What made the experience of listening to The Best Man the most enjoyable?

Narrator Zack Andrews was brilliant! Instead of just reading, his work truly pulls you into the story.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Best Man?

Silly as it sounds, the non-verbal sounds portrayed (laughter, sighs, etc.)

Which character – as performed by Zack Andrews – was your favorite?

John

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Most definitely, though perhaps not at work next time. The coworkers probably wondered why I giggled for no understandable reason.

Any additional comments?

Great book, made brilliant by an amazing voice actor!!

❤️Zach Andrews ❤️

I am head over hills in love with Zach Andrews voice! My god, I'm not into erotica past one or two scenes but this man, this Zach Andrews voice was incredibly sexy -fanning myself with a sigh- I think I actually listened to almost every sexy scene. -giggles- wow, what a voice!

I've read this story a while ago so I knew I'd love it, but Zach Andrews gave this story that mature, incredibly deeply, unbelievable sex appeal, warmth, calmness, and excitement to Liam and John characters that truly made this story worth 5 stars for me! And that's that's including all the erotica, which was way more than what I enjoy in my romances.

You're giving just enough of a romance tale for Liam and John, dealing with questionable exes, and confusing misunderstandings, and some beautiful tender moments that completely makes up for all the sex.

So, if erotica is your thing, you get that in abundance, but if you love romance that deal with character driven emotions you'll be just as happy.

-groans- Zach Andrews... -dreamy sigh- nuff said.

The Best Man

*Book*
This book was ok. Jon was dumped by an A-hole, who left him to get married to a woman, and *gasp* asks him to be his best man, seriously what a Jerk, I mean who does that?!? And Liam has some undisclosed issues you wont hear about until the end of the book (but you can probably guess about halfway in). They start out as a one night stand that turns into several days, then several weeks, of Hot Sex together. Yes, there is a lot of sex in this book. almost repetitive but still good. I really hated Jon's ex more and more as the story goes on. There were also a few things that didn't really make a lot of sense to me while reading/listening to the story. But overall it was a decent read & listen.
*Audio*
Is there an Echo in here? Are we in a Tunnel or Cave? LOL... So the first few times I heard the echo/reverb sound I thought I was trippin. But the more it happened I realized that the narrator used the "echo" sound when the character was "thinking" or "talking to himself" That sometimes made me laugh in places that weren't really funny in the book. Other than that the narrator did a good job, with narrating, and annunciating, and pronouncing everything correctly in the book.

If it's possible ... TOO MUCH SEX

Look ... I'm no prude. I'm 27 chapters in and have yet to get to a storyline. Of course, there hasn't been much time to develop a story because the two main characters are constantly engaged in graphic sex. It's overused to the point of distraction.

As for the narration, Mr. Andrews uses one single voice for all the characters, which makes it difficult to tell who is speaking. I'm grateful that there's occasionally some echo, so the listener knows when something is supposed to be a non-verbal thought as opposed to a sentence spoken aloud to another character. He also speaks quite slowly and almost in a hushed tone. I've sped up the narration to try and get through the remainder of the book.

I would find it hard to recommend this selection, unless you're looking for tons of sex ... in which case - THIS IS YOUR BOOK.

Predictable and repetitive

I usually rate L.A. Witt's work very highly, but this book was disappointing. About 40% of the content could have been cut directly with no other changes, without damaging the story the at all all. Another 10-20% could have been cut with minor rewrites. There is enough here for a short story, but it is padded out.

There is very little to the story, really. Witt adheres strongly to the cliched tropes of romance novels, which is a pity. The 'twists' in the story are flagged well ahead, so you know what is going to happen from early on. Then there are seemingly endless scenes of the couple in lengthy and usually pointless dialogue, which contributes neither to plot nor character, or else having sex again and again. It wasn't long before I was fast forwarding through the many boring sex scenes. When their eyes met and their breath caught, again, I began to groan. The book could have accommodated maybe two of these scenes, but it felt like there were about 20.

As with so many romance novels, the dialogue between the lovers that is supposed to show us the spark between them is usually cringe-inducing. The two flirt and banter and laugh out loud. Except the lines are not funny at all. These could also be cut, which would only improve the book book because the long scenes of dialogue make the reader feel the neither of these guys is attractive at all, given what they find amusing. They also go into detailed conversations about unimportant things, like traffic routes and their work and their opinions on driving styles and so on, that are completely superfluous.

The narration might have been OK, though certainly not great, if it weren't for two very annoying and often repeated things: the over-use of an echo effect, and the addition of giggles or chuckles to lines of dialogue that were not meant to be funny. He managed to read fluently and without mispronouncing words, which is unusual. However, there was no differentiating

**** Possible minor spoilers below ******

On the other hand, there were lots of potentially much more interesting paths that were not taken with the other characters. Liam has an identical twin. Why? Nothing is made of that, apart from the fact that in the past they had impersonated each other. That could have been used to develop the plot. Craig, the ex-lover who is about to marry a woman, is cheating on her with men that he picks up at the bar where Liam works. Nothing more is made of that. Why not? Why is he picking up men at that particular bar, if it isn't going to result in something? It seems like it was a plot line that was cut. I find it baffling that these and other potential lines were introduced but not developed. The book had potential, but failed to reach it.

sexiest narration ever

The story was good, the main characters were very likable but the narration was exceptional. I've Googled this narrator hoping to find more audio books but not finding any. He has got the sexiest voice out of all the audio books ive listened to a d I've listened to a lot.

The story is good but the sex was a bit over the top. After a while I kind of skipped over them. I think the story could have used a bit more substance but I enjoyed it nonetheless. I will look for more from the author.

Again, the narration was awesome.

Nice book

I love the book but the drama why start at the end? The drama should have been included through out the book not just a few chapter toward the end. Besides that I truly enjoyed the book.

Very Erotic Read !!

Loved this book as I do all of Ms Witt's work although I think this was maybe the most descriptively erotic.
There was a little bit of predictability in the story line in respect of what was happening with Liam. That said it was still a good read.
If I'm honest the narration spoilt it a little bit. Firstly I didn't like the echo-ey sounds associated with John's thoughts. That was possibly me just being a bit weirded out but them at the start and not being able to just take them as a way of identifying 'thoughts' from speech.
For me, what was more of an issue was the way Zack really 'got into' the sex scenes, obviously trying to bring them to life. It would have worked better if there had been 2 guys each playing a role and reading that person's speaking parts'. Having one person talk all breathy and gasping and then the same person answer all breathy and gasping made it more fake to me, rather than more realistic.
That said it didn't spoil the story enough to stop me giving it 5🌟's or highly recommending it. I just think there is room in that area for some improvement.
In summary;
Loved the story
Liked the narration
Highly recommend
Will continue to read any and all books by this author using whichever of her nomdeplu as she chooses to write under.
5🌟 Ms Witt and thank you ❤
