Hearing Kathryn Janeway's story, in her own voice, delightful!

Kate Mulgrew IS Janeway, you will never be able to tell me any different.

Listening to this story puts a whole new spin on one of my favourite TV shows and Mulgrew's performance is perfect. It was like listening to Captain Janeway regaling tales of her life as if she were sitting before you sipping coffee.

Such an enjoyable listen

I really enjoyed this, it’s my 1st audiobook and I picked it specifically because it was voiced by Kate Mulgrew. It’s a fun story full of moments that make you laugh, Kate’s performance is the thing I treasured the most about this audiobook, and it’s fun learning about Janeway’s early days.

I have 2 minor gripes:

The almost complete focus on Voyager’s time in the delta quadrant leaves me feeling unsatisfied, it’s great to hear her grappling with the morality of splitting Tuvix but this like many other parts of the story are feelings and thoughts that were pretty well explored in the episode. Equinox is another example, but it’s a bit more fleshed out. Too many memberberries, I wanted to know more about what happened off screen, the quiet moments and the things that weren’t the crisis of the week.

I really enjoyed the original writing parts at the beginning and the end, but I desperately wish there was more focus on the post return time. At least 7 and Icheb get a much nicer life in this book than they do in Picard, but it’s not clear when this memoir is being written.

Overall, 8/10. Really enjoyed it, but I probably won’t listen to it again knowing it’s more of a recap of her time in the delta quadrant.

I loved this more than I expected. It is such a fun addition to the voyager story which gives you both more insight and more closure.
It is so we'll performed that it is an absolute pleasure to listen to. However I would recommend it for people who haven't watched the show.

Great narration and an excellent story for voyager fans

Was wonderful to have Kate Mulgrew for this, she was absolutely fantastic!
It was great to be able to have Janeway doing her own biography, helped relive many great memories and moments from the series.
Also got to learn more about some of the central characters and events that weren't covered during Voyager which was awesome.
Highly recommend

I didn't know what to expect from a fake autobiography but I came away wanting more of it. Kate is wonderful with her performance and I think without her it wouldn't be nearly as good, it really feels like you're listening to the captain because well...you are!

The parts about growing up and her journey are the best of the book and really add to her character. I think where the book is let down (only slightly) is the part where it explores her time in the delta quadrant. I don't mean to say it's bad, just not as good as the rest, perhaps because it's rehashing things we've already seen. Still it wouldn't make sense to not include aspects of her time there, considering thats what the character is known for.

Well worth a listen.

I want more!

Such a great perspective on the Voyager odyssey from Janeway’s eyes. Learning her backstory and the years between the return and her time jump 25 years later was also a delight. And Kate Mulgrew’s narration was exactly as you’d expect: stellar.

Immensely satisfying - was always disappointed in the voyager ending only because it didn't show an aftermath for the characters. This was the tying up of loose ends. Live long and prosper. 😊
