Publisher's Summary

Bloomsbury presents The Assassin's Blade by Sarah J. Maas, read by Elizabeth Evans.

The twist of a knife. The birth of a legend.

Step into the world of the #1 bestselling Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas with this collection of prequel novellas.

Celaena Sardothien is her kingdom’s most feared assassin. Though she works for the powerful Assassin’s Guild and its scheming master, Arobynn Hamel, she yields to no one and trusts only her fellow killer-for-hire, Sam. But when Arobynn dispatches her on missions that take her from remote islands to hostile deserts, Celaena finds herself acting independently of his wishes and questioning her own allegiance.

If she hopes to escape Arobynn’s clutches, Celaena will have to put her faith in her wits and her blade ... knowing that if she fails, she’ll lose not just a chance at freedom but her life.

A prequel to the New York Times bestselling Throne of Glass, this collection of five novellas explores the history of this cunning assassin and her enthralling — and deadly — world.

Included in this volume:

The Assassin and the Pirate Lord

The Assassin and the Healer

The Assassin and the Desert

The story behind what drives our strength

I liked that it showed how no matter your place in the world. We’re all capable of love. I also got very excited for the next book.

Fabulous seeing into the past

I thiroughly enjoyed listening to prelude novellas that told the story of Celaena's past before Endovier and book 1. Highly recommend listeningto the prelude novellas before the main series.

The last book tore at my heart though. Elizabeth Evans did a fabulous job

wonderful narration of some sad tales.

I loved the narration! this is a tough one because it's hard to say I enjoyed listening to the torturous and abusive past of our main character but I am glad I read this after starting the throne of glass series and not at the start, or I think I may not have read on. Great for context and back story, just a little hard on the heart.

Good read

I enjoyed this book however it wasn't one of those "can't put it down books". I liked the story but I didn't find myself thinking about it or think about what will happened next.
For anyone reading this review, I am reading the TOG series in chronological order. So this was the first book I read/listened to in this series, which might explain my review. I've heard this book does hit differently depending on the order its read, so make sure you check out the different orders you can read this series in before diving in. Happy reading!
