About this listen

Businesswoman, Sam Phillips, was quite content focusing on her single life. At 37, she didn't have the time to explore. She was never supposed to be alone, not in this world. One devastating day would crush everything she had ever known, but deep down, she knew there was more to life than business.

Alexis Foster wasn't looking for love. With work commitments only growing by the day, a life of "arrangements" as a high-class escort appeared to be the way forward. After all, at 25, Alexis had all the time in the world to settle down.

A simple decision would change their lives, but with a past ever-present for one of them, and a past lurking for the other, one of them must decide if she can give her all.

Is it too good to be true? Or can the heart be given away more than once?

Contains mature themes.

This story has a few tropes that I like and it is woven well. The two FMCs have baggage from their pasts that make for good plot points and challenge their HEA. Speaking of tropes - there’s age gap, financial gap, second chance after grief, escort to girlfriend, past controlling ex. It’s all happening and it’s worth the listen.
Ms Gould has toned down her Aussie/Kiwi accent for this Merseyside story and she’s enjoyable too. Happy listening!

This is the first book by Melissa Tereze which I have read. The story started well and I enjoyed the build up and the chemistry between the two main characters, However, as the story progressed there were a few parts in the book which I found unconvincing. Despite this, I read on and overall enjoyed it. Narration was good also.

Story of Loss and Hope.

Two subjects that make this book stand out from the rest of the Pretty Woman trope is, it showed a peek of the underbelly of escort services. Wherein some clients just push boundaries which puts the escort in a precarious situation especially if they’re not amenable to the proposition. Second is the death of the wife, the mourning journey and moving forward from a life you once knew. It’s not a new concept, but this addition to the story made it a bit more interesting compared to if this aspect was not included.

this was the 1st book I DNF, the writing is so robotic and the push pull issues are so continuous it makes any of the story feel disingenuous. unable to feel any emotion to either of the MC's, it was so poorly written

terribly written and narrated
