Publisher's Summary

The war with the Azael has left the people of Estes Valley weakened and isolated in their mountain retreat. Supplies of fuel and ammo are dangerously low and yet Neil bets most of what he has left on a gamble to find Jillybean, who was last seen in the forests of Missouri.

Neil is the only one who sees in the little girl a chance at a new beginning. He hopes to harness her genius for the benefit of the valley, but when the gamble fails he must send the only two people he can trust out into a dangerous world to gather more supplies.

Sadie and Captain Grey set off with a squad of soldiers...and are not heard from again.

For Jillybean, months alone without the endless danger, the mind-shaking explosions, and the screams that haunt her day and night have left the wounds on her psyche, tenuously scarred over. She can function and her mind is as razor sharp as it has ever been, but now she is cold and grim.

She's also as desperate for love as always, and on her own, she finds her way back to the valley, only to discover that the rumors of her murderous past have grown and the people of the valley have been turned against her.

With nothing to lose and her family in desperate trouble, some missing, some on the edge of banishment, she agrees to go on one more adventure. It's an all or nothing gamble with her life, and the lives of anyone foolish enough to get in her way, on the line.

Amazing story

Wow, what a story, even though it was book 8, it didn’t disappoint. Action packed the whole way, characters that you felt for,and empathised with and many you hated. I’m a 66 year old woman and even though some of the chapters were challenging,I was addicted. The narrator was brilliant and consistent with the characters voices and personalities and the story never gets boring. Just about to start book 9 yay!!!

It Hurts

True to form your heart will break. The story hurts you physically. I found myself yelling at the characters to act when they hesitated to do the absolute necessary thing to keep them and their family safe. I don't know what to say. if you could see the expression on my face with would be pain and anguish. The ending is fitting for a book like this.

I like these books, however...

dont get me wrong, i like like 40% of these books. i like them because of JillyBean and The Captain. at this point in the books, we are over a year past the apocalypse. i just do not find it likely that it has been this long, and the majority of the people that sudvive have not been able to hone/develop their common sense. i just dont believe it

Love this series

The performance by Basil Sands is extraordinary. I feel like I'm right there with Jellybean, Capt Grey, Neil and Saydi and going thru all their adventures and sorrows. Can't wait for the next adventure.

Just keeps getting better!

Peter Meredith has done it again! More action, more Jillybean!!! One of the best zombie series you'll read. There are a LOT of subpar zombie stories out there now, but this series is the gold standard. Non stop action combined with great storytelling and excellent character development. The narration is also spot on. If you've been following the series you already know, if not, start with book one immediately, you won't be sorry, and you won't be able to stop!

better not be the end

This can't be the end of the saga. Jillybean is one of the most unique characters in all the zombie novels I've read. Just so you know I have a Chihuahua who has seizures once and a while. she's a little off. I named her Jillybean after the the Jillybean in this book.

awsome series.

I only have one problem with this series. the man who caused it all just walks away with no punishment. rather unfulfilling feeling it left.

A fantastic series of books

Loved these stories from start to finish, will probably listen to them again one day. Would make a great television series. Basil Sands did a fabulous job too.
