Publisher's Summary

This is my autobiography. It's not a novel; it's my life story where I want to motivate and influence others. It shows lots of emotion, both highs and lows, how to succeed - it shows how I turned 37p into 100 million pounds. I have dyslexia and ADHD which is highlighted as you listen to the book. Due to this I often get sidetracked and have to go back to the original part of the story; again, this is highlighted. I also use some unsavory words, not in a malicious way merely showing my frustrations when not everything goes my way. The book took me just over three years to finish.

A great insight to what is required in business

A great listen about the challenges faced by a family business. The most memorable extract from the book was when Neville and Marolin sold the business and how they felt about not belonging to kiddicare, the feeling of not been wanted or having any cause. It was great to see them continue to do great things in property, something I personally aim to achieve once I have enough capital. A great journey by a family which strive for the best in themselves and others.

a real look into entrepreneurship

fantastic book, he jumps around a lot so you have to really pay attention. but really was a great and emotional deep dive into what it's like to be a rags-to-riches entrepreneur.

My New Favourite Book!

A frank, unflinching & honest account of what it takes to build a market leading independent business from scratch. A masterclass in both sales and marketing from Neville, full of common sense, contrarian investment gems and razor sharp business acumen. A rollercoaster ride with amazing achievements and truly dark times also.

Neville is a genuine national treasure and this book is a blueprint in how to succeed, not just in business but in life.

I still don’t get it

I spent a few hours reading this before initially giving up. Beyond someone who clearly has a work ethic to beat anyone else’s, I didn’t find much else in it. I re-read the reviews and gave it another go as I had a long journey so time to kill and still no real negative comments of any kind. The book is humorous in places and is inspirational for someone who has achieved so much but little to take away in terms of practical application, other than a few examples of how best to make the most of your money. As a management or customer related text (which I had hoped it would be), there was very little. Sorry to be the outlier here. If you have lots of time on your hands and want a story of rags to riches, then this may be for you. But if you want an audiobook to learn practical steps of business devt, I’d look elsewhere.

More story than guidance

First of all credit where it's due for creating a multimillion pound business over time. This is more a biography than a guide to creating wealth. I think we all know that with hard work and determination we can create it. Not taking away the impressive work put in here, but as usual with these books it helped MASSIVELY to start buying/selling/renting from the house prices in the 70s 80s & 90s. Felt I'd learnt more about his life rather than HOW to actually do something. Another annoyance is the constant "side tracked" "back" parts, there's no need as the book flows well without them. In all I'd say good, impressive, but sadly disappointed

Inspirational

What an incredible journey this lovely family have been on, it just shows how passion and belief and a genuine feeling to want to help others can bring happiness and wealth to everyone. loved this book, and if Neville happens to read these reviews then I would like to ask, how much do you want for that old unused piece of scrim? 😊

Flying cow

You will have to read the book to find out what the flying cow is, and on the way to that you will discover treasure trove of knowledge in regards to Property InvestmentInvesting but more so about a flexible attitude to life to people and situations, Neville is truly an inspiration and his story is truly amazing, his values in regards to family or 2nd to none and in regards to his treatment of people I would say that that comes equal. There are plenty of gems in regards to setting up business structures and when he talks about using his pension as an investment vehicle it’s quite interesting as he describes his system without using the words, see if you can figure out what it is. Thank you for writing this book and taking the time to share your thoughts

100% Inspirational

I chose this book because I wanted to know how a seemingly normal couple built their business from 37p into £70million. Marilyn and Neville are not normal, they are truly inspirational. After the reading the book and everything they have experienced in their lives it has re energised me and given me a new sense of hope (COVID 19 has had a negative impact on my business). I feel like I know them and want to be part of their team. The book is full of good humour and great insight into their journey. Thank you for writing the book Neville and sharing so much.

Fantastic book, a must listen!

I absolutely loved this book. It is both inspiring and as a business owner interesting how a business can grow from 1/2 person business to a multimillion pound company. The narration was great too. Highly recommended for both business and non-business people.

Emotional rollercoaster full of lessons

I have read many business books and I was fully engaged in Neville's story from start to finish. An honest account of the work ethic and passion required to be a success. It is obvious that Neville's drive to succeed was born from the bullying and harsh treatment of his dyslexia at school. As is often the case intelligence and academia are often confused and you really root for him and his family. It is revealing to be told of their great sadness at the time of selling up for a fortune and also the many times when stress seems to be pushing them to breaking point. I love the sliding doors moments that reveal how easy it is to quit when you are so close to success and his practical advice on goals within goals. It is full of lessons and another example of the extraordinary value of a book, when it delivers all of this advice, knowledge and understanding for such a small amount. Thanks Neville.
