Publisher's Summary

From the author of the Seven Sisters series, The Angel Tree is Lucinda Riley's compelling mystery of family secrets and forgotten pasts on the sweeping pastures of south-east Wales.

Read by the award-winning actor Juliet Stevenson (Truly, Madly, Deeply)

Thirty years have passed since Greta left Marchmont Hall, a grand and beautiful house nestled in the hills of rural Monmouthshire. But, after a tragic accident, more than two decades of her life have disappeared from memory. When she returns to the Hall for Christmas, she has no recollection of her past there.

Then, during a walk through the wintry landscape, she stumbles across a grave in the woods. Though the inscription is weathered, the headstone still tells her: a little boy is buried here.

The discovery strikes a chord in Greta's mind, igniting a quest to recover her lost memories. A quest that will take her deeper into her own life, and that of her daughter . . .

I really enjoyed listening to this book, it captured me and I couldn't stop listening near the end. loved all characters and despised Chesca which was probably the intent of the author

The angel tree

Great story however I did not like the narration as some characters were too winey. I wonder if it would’ve been better to read the book than listen

Too long winded

Not my favourite by the author but I kept going until the end which was predictable

Best Yet

I've read all of her books and for some reason kept avoiding this one. It ended up being my favorite so far.

Interesting storyline

I’ve loved Lucinda’s books in the past and enjoyed this one as well. I found it interesting and thought provoking.
The story lines give a glimpse as to expectations for young women at different times in the past ( as her other books do), putting the reader in the past with the characters to tell their stories (which I’ve loved).
There’s an an air about this book that I found somewhat unsettling due to the manipulative and troubled character(s) that were difficult to like, but that in itself makes the story more provoking.
Other reviews have mentioned the voice the narrator used for the daughter, and I would somewhat agree, however it wasn’t enough to put me off. I found it to be part of the character’s complexities. I’m somewhat surprised that I find myself feeling empathy for her on reflection.
I think this story will stay with me for a while…

Great story, shame about the narrator

So enjoyed the story. Had everything a reader/listener could want with the definite exception of the dreadful narrator the childlike whiny tones took a lot of the pleasure away for me. I have heard this particular narrator before and it reminded me I usually avoid her work.

Great Story

I really enjoyed this book, however the Narrator was only ok, the voice she used for a child was quite annoying. Other than that it is well worth a read.
