About this listen

The story starts in the present day - fracking on the Fort Berthold reservation - it has changed the beauty of the landscape and the culture of the native people, who live there. I note the comparison in the UK, with regards to the fracking and the potential damage it causes. I reflect, back to when I first visited the reservation - to research the link between a 12th century prince and Mandan native Americans. My story deals with the struggle of the natives of North Dakota over the years. A few tell the stories in their own words, about their ancestors and the genocide of their peoples. The changes of their culture up to the present day. I think this story is exciting and necessary to today's listeners. It concerns the environment and mistakes that were made in history.
