Publisher's Summary

The next thrilling instalment in the Women's Murder Club series.

After a dramatic shoot out at a ferry dock, Detective Lindsay Boxer is called to the scene to find that three people have been killed, and one of her closest friends, Claire, has been shot and lies bleeding, whilst the murderer is on the run. Lindsay promises Claire that she'll hunt down this killer and bring him to justice, but sadly, it doesn't prove to be so straightforward.

A man comes forward claiming to be the ferry murderer, and Yuki Castellano, one of the Women's Murder Club, prepares to set out the charges against him. But it's not all over; a child has been abducted and is still missing. To increase the mystery and confusion, there are a series of suspicious and unexplained deaths in the building where Cindy lives - yet another of the Women's Murder Club is in danger. Lindsay discovers yet more abducted children, and the hunt begins in earnest to return the children to their parents.

Terrible Narrator

Not even half an hour in to the book and I struggled to listen to anymore. The narrator is terrible, has a one tone voice and totally unbelievable when in character. I listened to all 5 stories so far, but I'm sorry Carolyn McCormick, you have murdered what could have been a good book!

Great story, stop the sound effects.

Really great story, plot and narration. Also, the volume is not so jumpy from one chapter to the next, thanks for ironing that out. But please, stop the sound effects at the top and tail of each chapter! This isn't a children's book. I really don't care for it.

I can't listen to this narrator.

I just can't. I miss Pat's voice narrating. She became the characters and I was able to connect with her and follow the story intently. Not so with this narrator. I'm disappointed.

Not really enjoying the new narrator

story was OK, not my favourite so far.
although I've struggled listening to the narrator. I don't find her as easy listening, which takes my focus away from the story. other than that I enjoyed it.

miss Pat Starr

I loved the voice and expressions of emotion Pat Starr had when narrating the previos books. it brought so much more to the feel of the book. shame i see no further narrations by Pat for this series. like the series though so will continue but less engaged.

Disappointed

Completely put off by the narrator on this book, which was a shame because the previous books were so brilliant to listen to. The inclusion of noise and background music didn’t enhance the story either. Finally the flow wasn’t as good to the story line. It’s as if the writer was trying to bring in too many stories at once. I’ve given the previous books a five star rating, this just makes a three. I’ll try the next one in the series in the hope the writers were just having a bad spell.

the book is good the music at each chapter is not needed in my opinion. It just is not needed and becomes annoying.

What’s with the music?

As is always the case, James Patterson writes a great story, but the change of audio Performer has not worked as well as the first 5 books. I am not keen on the 1980’s style music which has obviously been overlaid after the recording. It’s added at every chapter, and other music plays at various intervals. It is unnecessary and quite frankly, annoying. I hope it doesn’t continue into book 7.

Full of twists and turns

A good story with plenty of action and a couple of twists to boot. Narration took a little getting used to, as was used to Pat Starr. Carolyn seems to pronounce some of the key characters names differently and it took me a while to realise who she was talking about at times. Other than this, very good listening 😊
