Publisher's Summary
The astonishing, beautiful new story from the best-selling and Costa short-listed author of Time Travelling with a Hamster.
There are stories about people who want to live forever.
This is not one of those stories.
This is a story about someone who wants to stop....
Alfie Monk is like any other nearly teenage boy - except he's 1,000 years old and can remember the last Viking invasion of England.
Obviously no-one believes him.
So when everything Alfie knows and loves is destroyed in a fire and the modern world comes crashing in, Alfie embarks on a mission to find friendship, acceptance and a different way to live...which means finding a way to make sure he will eventually die.

I really enjoyed!!
I have seen this book everywhere and I have always thought it looks to young but finally my mother convinced me to listen to it and I’m so great full she did this book is one of my favourites!! I don’t really know what age group I would recommend for this book but I’m 13 and I really enjoyed it.😍 I think the thing that made this book stand out from all the other books I’ve read is that it’s about an 1,000 year old boy!! I love this book❤️❤️ hope other people enjoy it as much as I did!

The kids say: AMAZING STORY!!!!!
The kids review (youngest age 6, eldest 11): We listened to the whole thing driving from Darwin to Kakadu, to Nitmuluk, to Litchfield and back to Darwin. Definitely recommend to anybody ages 6 and up.

rad!
I liked this book because, It was about an eleven year old boy, Who creates drama with the adults! And by the way I am an eleven year old. Which In my opinion also makes me happy that he is creating drama. My mum thinks that the readers are good.
I am looking forward to reading more books by the same author.
