Publisher's Summary

Terra Nova, Book 1

Terra Nova. The promised world is humanity’s new home, safe from the threats of a dangerous galaxy, where veterans of a long war could live in peace. The promise was a lie.

Chief Katherine “Kit” Carson, of the elite Pathfinder Corps, joins the mission as a last-minute replacement, hoping to put a spotty past behind her and build a new life on a brave new world. The expedition arrives on Terra Nova, expecting to join the first wave of colonists, instead they find abandoned cities and are soon faced with a new, terrifying enemy humanity has never encountered before.

For the colony to survive, Carson must unravel the mystery of her new home and learn the fate of the first mission to settle the planet....

Bloodlines, Book 2

Terra Nova broke free of the Ultari tyrants, but the colony’s struggle to survive has just begun.

Governor Ken Hale and his expedition brought technology to the Canis Major galaxy that will change the balance of power forever, and the Ultari will stop at nothing to take it for themselves. The colony needs allies, and with no other options, Hale sends Chief Kit Carson on a first contact mission that will either shield their vulnerable world or invite its swift destruction.

Very entertaining

Almost like being there or watching a movie. I easily got lost in the story and had difficulty turning the audio book off.

Horrible narrator, fairly trite story

I don't think I made it through the first chapter, for narrator had terrible "accents" and didn't really change their reading style between someone talking and "he said"

Didn't help that the writing is terrible, "it was a dark and stormy night" level of rubbish

A good shoot em up in space

the premise was enjoyable and the world building was very good, feels like a complete universe.
the main issues I had were some character inconsistencies between the 1st and 2nd book, such as at the end of the first book the Arch Duke preserves Jared Hail from the wrath of the emperor, while In the beginning of the 2nd book the Emperor is preserving Jared against the other 2.
likewise at the end of the 1st book a fleet of ships turn up and have no issues communicating with the humans, but then in book 2 when the humans encounter them again the language issue needs to be solved.
overall a pretty good story with enjoyable, if slightly one dimensional characters.
If you're feeling like an in-depth tech heavy deep thought SIFI then perhaps not the best choice.

But if you're keen for a good shoot em up in space then this would be a good pick!

Narration is not Luke’s fort…

Ok, so Mr Daniels mispronounces some hard words like “chasm” and “forté” but this is not an unusual issue with Audible narrators. More annoying is his cartoon portrayal of voices and mapping of ethnic stereotypes to alien races that are being communicated with via translation software. We have a good representation of professional soldiers who nonetheless also veer to the hysterical.

The story ponders along with FTL aliens fortunately not equally advanced in their weaponry.

It as bad as some but with few original thoughts. We really needed to go to a new galaxy for this?

Not too bad

The story was great, tho l have to admit, the voices for the women charters esphely Kit Carson was a little off outing, with her parts. Hearing her character with a mans voice was, l dont know, like looking at a beautiful girl or women, than have her open her mouth & this motcho mans voice comes out. I was very disjointed for want of a better explanation. Don't get me wrong Luke Daniels dose a very good job on the male voices & not to bad with Governors Hales wife's still a bit mstcho tho. It would of made my overall experience 5 stars across the Board.

Not finished yet, but…

The character voices by the narrator sounds like Simpsons voices. It is a big shame.
