About this listen

The sensational Debra Mullins launches a new Victorian Era-set series with Tempting a Proper Lady - a wild and passionate romp about a proper wedding planner who join forces with a dashing gentleman to stop the wedding of the year, and the romantic chaos that ensues. Brimming with sensuality and electric sexual tension between the protagonists, Mullins' Tempting is a tempting treat indeed, especially if you like the novels of Lorraine Heath and Julie Anne Long.

This story has an interesting plot and mix of characters. Upon conclusion of the book, listeners learn it is part of a series, which i was both relieved and excited to discover as there were loose threads that needed tying up, and I really wanted to know what happens next to Annabelle, John, the highwayman and Ravensthorpe.

I found the narration polarising. The storytelling and accents were excellent for the most part, until the point of any intimate dialogue between Cilla and Sam. Whether bed talk or discussions of love - it all seemed one dimensional and dispassionate - this despite the sensuality of the scenes. Instead of being engrossed in their experience, I was tuning out or forwarding to get to the next interesting part of the story.

Nonetheless, it is a good audiobook worth enduring the unsexy narrative disconnect. I do hope the next book is as good.

Interesting story with steamy subplot

I thoroughly enjoyed this novel by Debra Mullins. It moved along at a fast pace, with twists and turns along the way. The narration by Kitty Mule was excellent, with changes of voice and accents carried out so smoothly.
I would have liked to have had a little more rounding off of the ending.
I’m looking forward to listening to the next volume.

the villain is so awful, and also trigger warning, that I had to stop listening all together. I get that there needs to be a villain, I won't put a spoiler in here, but what he does is too much, and completely turned me off the story. wasted time. at least it was well narrated

the villain is too much
