Publisher's Summary

A heart-stirring novel of unrequited love and second chances by New York Times bestselling author Jennifer Probst.

Young widow Bella Sunshine-Caldwell is focused only on raising her daughter and running the family business, Sunshine Bridal. There’s no time for romance - especially with her fellow wedding planner, Gabe, whom she’s growing increasingly attracted to. He’s too enterprising to stay in Cape May for long, anyway. And too tall, dark, and handsome to be anything but a heartbreaker.

Every woman in town has her sights on Gabe Garcia. The only woman he has eyes for doesn’t seem interested. All he wants is to fall in love, be a father, and settle down. As he and Bella work together on a magical winter wedding, the distance between them closes, the nights grow warmer, and Bella might be seeing Gabe for who he really is: a man worth the effort.

But all it takes is a single rumor for these two hearts’ fragile love story to shatter. And now the happy ending Bella and Gabe hoped for is something they’re going to have to fight for.

Bella & Gabe

Jennifer Probst pulled me in immediately with Temptation on Ocean Drive. I loved how she wrote of Bella and Gabe's relationship and second chance. The details of how Bella was fighting her attraction to Gabe, out of sense to Zoe's father was realistic. Both Laurie West and Tor Thom captured the essence of the characters and brought them to life. I really enjoyed this listen!

Temptation On Ocean Drive

This series is really good and the first one book was great and this one was too even though Bella got on my nerves at times. Gabe is the fourth wedding planner and only man in their business and gives a different outlook to their events and when he and Bella work together they pull off the perfect Christmas theme wedding (even with all the quirks). When one of the guests insists she be hired they respectfully decline since it is such a quick turnaround but this is a high profile client who has a mind of her own and the end up on Page Six and publicity is key and when she turns out to be the perfect client they come together to make this her dream wedding. Bella is a widow who is slow to trust and she is positive Gabe is not going to stay in their small town even though he is all in with her and her daughter. Watching these two find their way was something else and should make us all believe in true love.

Love Gabe & Bella

This book came just at the perfect time, filling my heart with hope and love. Bella is a widow with a 5 year old. She has been guarding her heart since her husband's death but now there is someone trying to chink away at the lock. Gabe works with Bella as a wedding consultant. Working with the Sunshine Sisters is the perfect job for him, and he loves it. But one of the reasons he enjoys work so much is Bella. These two have quite the struggle, but in true Jennifer Probst style, she gives us a story of hope and love. There are a few reasons I fell for this book. One is the camaraderie of all the characters. The sisters, along with significant others/friends all have a fantastic relationship. It gives the story a warm base. Bella is every woman who has been hurt in some way. Afraid to love again is not unusual, though there were times I would have loved to shake her. Gabe is what every woman wants. Loving, attentive, loves her kid, except his reputation precedes him. All put together, we have a little flirting, a little angst, some tea parties, pink dresses and a whole lot of fun while these two figure out what we all know! I loved it. Narration of a story like this is key. You need people who understand and can emulate the characters. Laurie West is phenomenal. She tunes in the mind of Bella and brings out all of her feelings with the inflections of her voice. Tor Thom uses that instrument he has and gives Gabe the loving warmth we know he has. And both can switch between characters, including 5 year old girls with ease! This team is incredible and enhanced the story.

3 stars!

Temptation on Ocean Drive is the second book in the Sunshine Sisters Series. This is Bella Sunshine's story. I was eager and anticipating her story after the end of Love on Beach Avenue. Bella and Gabe have one of those big, huge love stories. This is a story of unrequited love. Each having feelings for each other for many years but neither knew it. Bella is a widow. She is a single mom to Zoe. She is part owner of Sunshine Bridal. She lost her husband Matt in a tragic car accident. Gabe Garcia is handsome, sweet and beyond patient. He has been in love with Bella for years but has never admitted his feelings. Bella was off limits to him when she was married to Matt. Gabe is shy and apprehensive about admitting his feelings. They are close friends and work together and he is afraid of rejection and doesn't want to ruin a good thing. I adored Gabe. I never really felt Bella was good enough for him. His devotion to her was never returned at the same capacity and my heart hurt for him at his unrequited love for her. He has an amazing, giving heart and deserved more than Bella was able to give him the majority of the story. In the end I enjoyed this but there were issues with Bella that were problematic and I wished for less conflict. What I love most about this series is the town of Cape May. Jennifer Probst sets the most beautiful scenery. I love the beach and ocean setting and the small town feel. I look forward to Taylor Sunshine’s story in Forever in Cape May coming in Spring 2021. Although not my favourite narrators both Laurie West and Tor Tom did a good job.

Great romance and wonderful narration

I really enjoyed this second book in the Sunshine Sisters series from Jennifer Probst. I thought Gabe and Bella's story was really engaging and well-written, and the narration by Laurie West and Tor Thom was very good in enhancing the book. Gabe is so smitted with Bella, and he's begging her to give him a chance and take him seriously. Bella has experienced a lot of loss, and she's trying to protect her family from any more loss in the future. It takes a lot for her to open up to Gabe and trust him, and even more for her to believe that he truly wants her, her family, her quiet, small town existence. I really enjoyed this book. There was some angst, but I would still consider it relatively low angst. The 'angst' is really more of self-confidence and trust in nature. I loved how Gabe knew what he wanted, and repsected Bella's boundaries, even though they caused him some pain and heartache, proving that he is a deserving romantic lead.
