Love This Series

Highly recommend these books for any (tragically) proud zombie fan! I just love Mark Tufo's writing, and Sean Runnette is absolutely brilliant at bringing all the characters/story lines to life.

Indulge and enjoy!!

Brilliant as always!!

This book had me hooked from start to finish. I had to force myself to stop listening a few chapters near the end for a few days so I could make it last longer. Mark Tufo had me laughing, gasping, crying and shouting out throughout the whole book. And Sean Runnette as always narrated this superb tale wonderfully.

Another masterpiece from Mark Tufo

Would you consider the audio edition of Tattered Remnants to be better than the print version?

I would have to be honest to say that both are equal, what I miss reading the book I catch on the audiobook.

What did you like best about this story?

What isn't to like about this story. It is like lays potato chips you can't just have one.

What does Sean Runnette bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Sean makes the audiobooks come to life with his voice, he makes every character seem so real.

Any additional comments?

Thank you Mark Tufo and Sean Runnette for giving so much of your time to make this series so awesome!

You could tell the characters were tired

Having escaped the facility where the tainted flu shots were created, and after evading the clutches of Deneaux in the last volume; the Talbots are reunited at Ron's. There is some happiness and, sadly, some heartache. Mike notices Tommy is acting strange and soon he finds out why. There are some vampires coming to investigate Eliza's death, and they are close. Now, the family is planning for the worst, buffing up defenses, finding a fallback position, and of course, getting into trouble at every turn. To make matters more complicated, Mike hears a familiar voice over the radio asking for help. A voice they all thought long gone.

Sean Runnette nailed it again as Mike, BT, Tripp, and the rest of the Talbot gang. I have mentioned it before; he is these characters, plain and simple. He reads the inflections seemingly perfect, and understands all the humor almost as if he himself wrote it. The man has great range; all character is easily distinguishable, his female voices are just as good as his male voices, and he reads with feeling. Zombie Fallout is my only real experience with Runnette; now that I am all caught up on the series I look forward to trying some of his other works, most likely Hemlock Grove.

This book had a different feel than the rest. You could tell the characters were tired, worn, and scarred. The tone of the novel was more morose; as if you were attending the wake of someone close, with loved ones sharing stories and you hear soft laughter and soft sobbing at the memories. and it felt like it should. It's book nine of the Zombie Fallout series and there has been death and despair in spades throughout, and the characters show it; their interactions are all a little shorter and sharper, tempers are thin and stress is abundant. That's not the say the book felt different all together, not at all. You still get all the banter you've come to enjoy in Tufo's writing, the development of the "smart zombies" that have been coming to light over the last couple of books, and the same heartfelt emotion that has me cemented as a fan. However, there does seem to be less of the dark humor from his earlier books, which suits the story's progression perfectly and makes the world Mark has built all the more engrossing. It's packed with intense moments, funny moments, emotional moments, and moments that may even make you take pause. Mark Tufo has written a very good series with a great cast of characters. This is a good addition to the story, adapting the story to an ever changing world, all while keeping the core of what made it so good to begin with.

Straying a bit from the orriginal premise

I really like Mark Tufo’s work. His mix of wit, one liners and violence and gore make an interesting and intriguing mix. That being said, it might be time to end the Zombie fallout series. It seems to have gone a bit off the rails, zombies are getting smarter or bigger and there are more supernatural creatures than you can shake a stick at. This one doesn’t seem to move the overall plot along very much and it leaves the reader hanging (I think, I’m a bit confused with the “lost chapters”) which is a pet peeve of mine but I’m so invested in the series now it’s hard to stop, plus it’s full of those funny moments that I can’t get enough of which help me enjoy the book.

Sean Runnette is a top notch narrator and really adds to the enjoyment of the story.

The story has started to run ragged and astray

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I would stick to the main plot line. I feel like the book kind of wanders off.

Which character – as performed by Sean Runnette – was your favorite?

Mike

Home run, out of the ballpark!

What did you love best about Tattered Remnants?

Who was your favorite character and why?

All of them, how can you possibly have a favorite out of some many great characters? Each of them distinctively different and unique.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes and very sad when it ended because now I have to wait for the next edition

Any additional comments?

Hard to listen to

I love this series and was excited to see this book out. Unfortunately it was clear very early for me that this was not going to be like the rest.
Now, I understand that Mike is a unique character, but I don't have to be continuously reminded of it every five pages. In other books his quirks flowed into the moment, even if inappropriate. In this one his oddities were pushed into all aspects. I was reminded over and over how he always thinks the oddest most inappropriate content at the wrong times.
As far as the story goes. not many new developments. probley could have skipped this and moved right on to the next. That is if I continue the series.

No Thanks

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Bring back the Characters we have come to know and love.

Would you ever listen to anything by Mark Tufo again?

yes - Maybe

What about Sean Runnette’s performance did you like?

Sean is Micheal Talbot - nobody else could be.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Tattered Remnants?

quite a few , it dragged at some points and then some parts were so cliche and done to death already in other parts of the series... get's old.

Any additional comments?

Mike needs a time machine so he can back in the past and have more adventures with
His Real/Other Friends... you know what I mean.

Brilliant

The combination of author and narrator are a match made in heaven. These are the greatest pairing on audible. Brilliant book as you'd expect from Mark Tufo and laugh out loud moments, perfectly delivered by Sean Runnette. Desperate for the next combination of the pair to appear.

Back on form

Top drawer Mark Tufo again, loved every minute funny and powerful again and a touch darker but for me I thought the last one was not his best but this one has put him back on top again by miles in my eyes. Gutted on first death after following the Reily books wanted to know how that developed but it did not but a world of zombies eh.... Great book Mark looking forward to next one

Story getting a bit repetitive

The story is getting overly repetitive I found as one issue, but I'm also getting a little tired of evolving zombies. Speeders, bulkers, smart zombies, hive linked telepathy and echo location as a new one. And sure, zombies are fictional, but they are getting majorly unrealistic in the way they are massively and quickly evolving.

Narration is fine, and story is okay, but again you could interchange it with earlier books in the series for a near identical storyline. Also, Mike as a vampire is dull. Whines on and on about it and his soul but it never has any benefits. He seems weaker now than when it happened, and certainly more so than Tommy was when a half-vamp. He doesn't seem any better than an average human, and weaker than BT. And the other vamps are always way stronger and more powerful by far than Tommy.

More Than Enthralling

I love this series... I do.
Mark has the ability to captivate his audience with his writing style and his half cocked, skewed version of a universe that is inhabited by an alter ego that says things out loud that I'm sure... no... almost sure, he wouldn't say in real life.
I would recommend this series to anyone who enjoys comedy more than horror or, horror more than suspense or, suspense more than adventure or even, adventure more than comedy.
Sean Runnette is fabulous. He doesn't read the book, he performs it... He is Mike but more to the point, he is BT, Gary, Ron, Tommy, MJ and even Mrs D... You'll know when you hear it.
Please... If nothing else, stay with it just to hear Trip.

Every voice has its own face and that's Sean's imagining of what they sound like, imagine, that voice in your head and your own imagination will make its face because its familiar.
I have listened to every Mark Tufo publication on here and I've decided that I want to be like Mike Talbot (or Mark Tufo) when I grow up and I want Sean Runnette to tell people about my adventures.

So whens the next one?

And the saga continues with Mike and family fighting for survival the only problem being I have to wait for zf10 now I listened to this in one sitting, Sean Runnette continues as the narrator and really makes the book come alive to the point I got the paper back and then purchased this as well just for his performance.
