About this listen
"This has everything a romance glutton could wish for: a bold, talented, and dashing hero, a heart-stopping love affair!"—Daily Mail (London)
Paullina Simons's internationally bestselling blockbuster The Bronze Horseman told the heart-soaring tale of a young Russian woman's transcendent love affair with a Red Army soldier during the siege of Leningrad in the dark days of World War Two. The epic story continues in Tatiana and Alexander—a novel of the enduring power of love and commitment against the devastating forces of war and the equally dangerous forces of keeping the peace. A sweeping, intensely compelling romantic historical saga, Tatiana and Alexander is a Russian Thorn Birds and a truly unforgettable listening experience.

The difference manifested itself between Alexanda and Tatiana. Alexanda had lived long enough in TheUSA t have a Calmer approach to his existence. While Tatiana had awilfulness born of a Soviet upbringing. The conflict this caused formed the basis of the story.
Soviet cruelty and horrific behaviour

What impressed me most was the way the story constantly evolves. Just as you think the narrative is settling into a quieter moment, it turns sharply and pulls you deeper into the lives of the characters. The emotional highs and lows are powerful, the twists feel earned rather than forced, and the journey is relentless in the best possible way — layered, sweeping, and unforgettable.
As an audiobook experience, it did vary across the trilogy. The first instalment was unfortunately let down by the performance; the accents often felt incorrect and distracting, which took me out of the story at times. However, the second and third audiobooks more than made up for this. The narration was exceptional — authentic accents, perfect tonal delivery, and an emotional nuance that matched the intensity of the writing beautifully.
Overall, this was a breathtaking listen. If you love epic historical dramas that feel intimate, poetic, and emotionally consuming, this series delivers in every way.
