About this listen

They captured me, broke me. Molded me into their perfect weapon.

They made me murder and seduce strangers.

Until a hitman killed my captors and set me free.

LeroiI rescued a girl from a basement thinking she was innocent, but I brought home a serial killer whose darkness borders on insanity.

Now, I need to tame her murderous instincts before I become her next victim.

Seraphine is reckless, unstable, and likely to get us both destroyed. Every instinct says I should end her, but she’s too captivating to resist.

Each day, she draws me deeper into her web, her allure stripping my self-control. But I’m harboring secrets treacherous enough to add me to her list of men to slaughter.

Seraphine

Leroi is dark, deadly, and dangerously attractive.

I don’t know what he wants, but resisting him is impossible and I'm ready to slay him at the first sign of betrayal.

When a dark figure from the past rises from the shadows, wanting to reclaim me, I'm forced to trust a man who might stab me in the back.

Taming Seraphine is a dark romance containing themes that may be disturbing to some. Please check the warnings inside the book.

"If she’s the sun, then I’m Icarus, flying close for a kiss of her gleaming rays. She looks like a fallen angel, the kind that lures men to their deaths."

Eh. I had high hopes as so many people recommend Styx as great dark romance writer but I found this book frustrating. I will try another one of hers before I make a full decision...always at least two books 😉

So...the premise:

Our FMC was a hostage, held for 5 years from the age of 16 - trained as a lethal lolita killer. He's 33(ish) and a hitman for hirer. Our MMC finds her, feels sorry for her and keeps her, like a weird little pet... explained because of his past.

The good:
It's dark, exactly what a dark romance should be, triggers galore - all the good stuff. + murder, sex, blood, shock etc
The overall story was okay, a little long winded, but the actual plot wasn't bad. A few chapters could have been dropped as the revenge trope of killings became a little repetitive.

The bad:
The female character really grated me. I actually was rooting for her to get her own bullet by halfway through and frankly I'm disappointed she survives. Trying to take her trauma into account I still found her petulant, immature and way too impulsive - not to mention she didn't have any growth. I'll try to be fair and say she's emotionally stunted as she was trapped for 5 years, but she still just made me angry and I actively disliked her. She spends a tonne of time drawing kill pictures of her saviour...I can't help imagine them as child-like scrawlings 🤣

MMC - I liked him at the beginning and he had so much potential. He's obviously an amazing hitman with wonderful skills like all dark MMCs do. But in the end I found him so frustrating. He calls the FMC his little angel for so long then ends up making a deal to reward her with orgasms, and eventually uses his oh so magic penis, but he's also dark and twisty and into nipple clamps... if he said behave one more time it might have just tipped me over the edge to crazy myself.

They're so in love and absolutely mental...maybe they do deserve each other 🤦 she's quite obviously got white knight syndrome and he's got some barely past pedophilia issue.

So...yeah eh..

it was okay...

This was not the greatest read. It’s like it was missing something. Good performance by narrators. Not the biggest fan of the story though.

Eh unsatisfied read

I hesitated at first, the preview didn't do the book justice.
The story was good.
There were some spicy parts and a plot twist in the end.
It was a a great distraction.
The male narrator sounds older than the character but since it was read in duet it made the experience believable.

it's worth the listen

He sounded like he was about 75. Very disappointing. I had to stop listening. Story captured my interest

Male narrator ruined this for me
