Publisher's Summary

I saved his life.

Now he’s invaded mine.

Two years ago, a split-second decision changed everything. I risked my life for a man I didn’t even know and nearly died for it.

I’ve tried to forget him. To forget that whole night.

But he hasn’t forgotten me.

He’s been watching.

Obsessing.

Craving.

And when he crashes back into my life like a wrecking ball, accompanied by two dark shadows — men he calls his brothers — the life I’ve been trying to rebuild for myself shatters into a thousand sharp-edged pieces.

He believes our souls are bound by blood, and he’s come back to claim what’s his.

Two years ago, I saved Marcus Constantine’s life.

Now I wish I hadn’t.

This is the first book in the Ruthless Games series, a dark reverse harem romance. It contains bully elements, sexual situations, violence, and dark subject matter.

Get ready to be obsessed!

If you’re like me and your catnip involves any of the following, this is the book for you!

Dark, mysterious stalkers
Jealous and protective heroes
Strong, independent heroine
Unexpected twists from the start
Fast burn, steamy heat
Edge of your seat action
Slow building harem

Callie Rose quickly became one of my favorite authors last year with her Boys of Oak Prep (that truth or dare scene, tho!) and Kings of Linwood Academy trilogies. Sweet Obsession continues to feed my obsession with deeply complex and unique characters, her signature sensual tension building, and captivating story.

After a life altering encounter at a club, Ayla is unprepared for these men to enter her life. Just as she’s being accustomed to her new normal, danger threatens her life once again. Passing on the warning I received — there is a cliffhanger, but you will survive it.

The narrator does a beautiful job, but I have two complaints. The first might be a personal issue, as fairly new audiobook listener—this is the same narrator who did Callie’s Boys of Oak Prep (my all time fav bully RH!), and at times hearing her voice made me think I was still in that book’s world. Secondly, while Kasi has a great voice, she tends to have this nervous quivering quality during many narrative or inner thought sections. Ayla is such a strong character, who is often firm in her world view and this quivering is the opposite of how I expect her to sound. At times it does work, in moments where Ayla isn’t safe or is feeling insecure.

I’m eagerly awaiting the next book to see what will unfold with Ayla, Marcus and his brothers. Let the games begin!

Confused but intrigued...

The book is hot. No doubt about that. Ridiculous hot! The story was ok. Through the first 2/3 of the book I didn't think I would listen to the others. I actually skipped through some of it because the main character is so whiney. Then all of a sudden, the last third happened. Now I HAVE to go buy the next one. My first thought when it ended was, "What?!!". So I guess it was worth the listen.

Loved this story

I can’t wait to listen to book 2 Isla and her guys have amazing chemistry. Marcus, Theo, and Rand are embroiled in a dangerous game and Isla is caught in the middle. Looking forward to seeing how their story progresses.

Gets interesting at the end

if you can get past the fact that the narrator mispronounces words and sounds constantly on the verge of tears, and if you can get past the inappropriate stalker behavior and overly broody but vague alpha male posturing, the last few chapters are interesting. took too long to get there, though.

Narration by Kasi Hollowell was amazing! She brought all the characters to life.

Disappointed

I'm a huge Callie Rose fan, love her books.
But, I really couldn't get into this book to even figure out if the rest series was any good.
Narration was good, it was the book itself. :(

Just Okay

I got half way through and decided to put this one down.
Spoilers ahead ***
Had good makings in concept with the heroine saving his life...but ultimately fell flat for me. I was missing the build up that previous stories by this author had. It was very repetitive on how girl says she doesn’t want anything to do with the guy, then after every encounter in person she becomes a weak lustful piece of putty in his arms. I actually typically like moments of weakness like this, but every meeting of theirs seemed to be just a slightly different version of the same.

Another thing that bothered me was the constant reminder of her disability. I can’t imagine how hard it would be actually living her life, and don’t want to belittle what the writer was trying to accomplish with giving us a perfectly imperfect heroine, but it was overwritten and mentioned on practically every other page. I think I read In the span of one sitting, four different times the protagonist stated “I hardly ever where my prosthetic...” and then went to put it on just like she did the day before.

Maybe I’ll try again one day...we’ll see... but I do know I will try another book from this author as I have liked their other works very much.

Intriguing

Good read. kept my interest enough to buy next audio book in the series . I prefer dual narration but narrator did a good enough job with male voices so did not detract.

Not for me - MC acts and is treated like a puppet

The female MC makes some weird choices, that she can't explain and that seems to surprise even her. She often seems paralyzed and unable to stand up for herself. This makes me see her more like a puppet than a person, and this frustrated me troughout the story.
Also, the MC is missing an arm because of one of these weird choices mentioned above. The fact that she is missing an arm, for me, made the male MC's way of acting harder to accept and listen to. The male characters yank her around like a rack doll. The sexual scenes are describe as very akward and the female MC seems extremely passive and sometimes it even seems more painfull than pleasureable.
This book was not for me, to toxic and weird. Stopped it before I finished it.

The narration was great though.

Intensely good start to the series.

I enjoyed this gritty, edge of the seat, suspense filled, reverse harem and am looking forward to the rest of the series. This is a dark reverse harem series and it is something that Callie Rose writes so well.
Callie Rose has once again written a great series start. The Ruthless Games series begins with Sweet Obsession, a dark romance with strong characters that I want to learn more about. The stalking aspect is not traditional stalking. The three male main characters have a very good reason to be looking out for Ayla, which becomes apparent as the story develops.
The narration is excellent and Kasi Hollowell delivers an impressive performance with fantastic character representation and emotionally and situationally accurate voice acting

But? NOOO! This book ❤️ that ending💔

Where to start with this? Right so this isn’t my first Callie Rose book but this is my first audiobook from her collection and it was 😱🔥🧡 ughh it was amazing. The narrator slaysssss!! The story, the characters, the hot as hell moments. I’m devastated at where it ended!! So I’m off to find book 2 😂
But I’d definitely recommend this to everyone looking for a sexy as hell reverse harem with a few added twists and turns that you don’t read in every other RH. I feel like the fact that this is set above teen/college age gives it an added vibe. I think the FC having a disability gives it something extra too. I also think that you should read this review and one click for the next book too. It’s just that good!
