Knowledge is power. That would be the motto of Lander University, had it not been snatched up and used to death by others long before the school was founded. For while Lander offers a full range of courses to nearly all students, it also offers a small number of specialty classes to a very select few. Lander is home to the Hero Certification Program, a curriculum designed to develop students with superhuman capabilities, commonly known as Supers, into official Heroes. Five of this year's freshmen are extra special. They have a secret aside from their abilities - one that they must guard from even their classmates.

For every one person in the world with abilities they can control, there are three who lack such skill. These lesser super beings - Powereds, as they are called - have always been treated as burdens and second-class citizens. Though there has been ample research in the area, no one has ever succeeded in turning a Powered into a regular human, let alone a Super.

Only issue is the narrator doesn't have a large range of voices, several characters get the same voices which realistically isn't a huge deal other than that he speaks clearly and has an engaging tone.

Storyline is great, addictive. trying to hammer this review out quickly so I can start book 2.

The Series name…Did not get me!! But my wife, an avid audio book listener, said it’s not like that. It starts out weird but trust me once you meet Nick you will go through the whole 4 book series. This is one of the best multi character series you will ever listen to and “Drew Hayes” writes multi characters that grow together and “Kyle McCarley” excels at clearly defining all the people speaking and helps make it feel like a real world. Give it a go, after the first chapter and the Mr Numbers weirdness it all falls into place and it is so worth it!!

I have listened to and read this book so many times and it's constantly better. it is such a layered book that you'll read it over and over and discover something new each time.
The narrator is also great, he speaks clearly and it's possible to listen at 3 times speed and it still reads clearly

Potentially my favourite book series At the moment

The story was engaging and worth the 'read'. The narration was a little off-putting. Too many instances of 'he said' 'she said'. Not sure if that is a problem with the book of if other narrators skip saying these because the listener knows who is talking based on the voice acting. The voice acting was good so we knew who was saying what, most of the time, without the constant 'he replied' or 'she reiterated'. It got very annoying, like a constant background noise, once you notice it it's hard to not hear it. And the strong American accent was a bit grating too.

The writing was average but the authors characterisation is second to none! You really fall in love with all of the main characters.

wasn't sure what to expect , but wow what a fresh take on the lives of superheroes and what it realistically would take if you actually had to train to be one...I can't wait for year 2!

A rising story from start to finish, had me hooked, 26 hrs few by, I don't know who I am any more. Where am I why did I keep waking, was it the book was it the man, how did I cross the sea
