Publisher's Summary

Hannah Kent and Oliver Jennings pledged their hearts to each other as children. Now, years later, Hannah is thrilled to receive an invitation to spend the summer at Oliver’s family’s country estate. The path to wedded bliss is clear - so long as Oliver’s highbrow older brother, Damon, has ceased his juvenile antics, Hannah’s future looks bright indeed.

But from the moment Hannah arrives at Summerhaven, nothing is as she expected. Oliver seems disinterested in renewing their acquaintance, and Damon is not the brutish boy she remembers but a man intent on avoiding marriage. Although she has loathed Damon her whole life, when he contrives a ruse designed to win them both what they desire, Hannah warily agrees. All she has to do to reclaim Oliver’s attention is pretend to be madly in love with Damon. But when Damon is surprisingly convincing in his role as a suitor, it proves difficult to discern the line between pretense and true love.

I loved it!!

I don’t usually spend a credit on a new book, but something about the beautiful cover enticed me to take a chance.

It was absolutely worth it. The book is written in first person, which I loved. I also fell in love with Damon the instant his character appeared in the doorway of Summerhaven. My heart skipped throughout the book, something that happens rarely now since I’ve listened to countless historical romances over the years and it is harder to find a listen that truly captures my heart.

Summerhaven did.

This book felt similar in tone to Edenbrooke and Blackmoore, two of my favorite novels. The narration was also perfect and all the character voices were distinct-I felt like I was present for every scene and conversation.

I’m so glad I listened and it will be added to my re-listen list. I was in a book rut, and Summerhaven drew me out.

Can’t wait for more from this author.

A story of unrequited love

Hannah loves Ollie and has for her whole life. She has spent every summer visiting Summerhaven where she and Ollie have played. Hannah has not been back to Summerhaven since her mother died a few years ago. She finally gets an invitation back where her mothers best friend, Ollie’s mother, live. She is sure the invitation is from Ollie and he will propose and they will start their life together. Only things aren’t what she expected. Ollie is distant, but his brother Damon is attentive and caring. Damon is the oldest and a future Earl. All Hannah remembers about Damon is that he was mean and played tricks on her. But was the the truth? It was her mind remembering things incorrectly? I enjoyed this story and the relationships Hannah had with each one. Perspective is everything. The narrator was pretty good. I listened to the book twice and enjoyed it more the second time. Definitely worth listening to.

Underwhelmed

I want to start by saying that I did mostly enjoy this story and the resolution. The narration was well done and I appreciate the character development.

But overall it is not one of my favorites and I do not think I would listen to this again. I felt like the story dragged on and had too much internal dialogue of the main character. I also disliked the brothers being so much at odds with each other the entire novel. I didn’t love the conflict between the main character and the brothers and her indecisive nature of which brother to choose. Also she seemed to have a little bit of a victim complex which did not endure her to me. I do not think I would have used a credit on this book if I had known the contents before hand.

Definitely Worth the Time

It’s been a long time since I was unsure of the ending of a romance novel. This story was not the usual cookie cutter novel that most of them are nowadays. It was refreshing and I enjoyed the author’s style of writing. It was easy to get submerged into the story and I loved the characters. Each one was well written and likable.

I really enjoyed the narrator and she is quickly becoming one of my favorites.

Excellent clean novel and excellent narration. Highly recommend!

I wish the main character wasn’t so clueless

I think I had my hopes too high on this one and it just fell short for me. I found the main character to be annoying and the whole story just dragged on. Maybe I wasn’t in the mood for this kind of story.

Absolute Perfection

This book was absolute perfection! I listened to it in less than 24 hours and only stopped when it was required of me. I then listened to it again immediately upon finishing. And I'd listen to it again now, if I didn't have other obligations. Seriously love this book and all the characters! Very well written and sooo enjoyable. Couldn't get enough! I look forward to any other books with which Tiffany Odekirk may come out. ♥️ 10/10 stars and 10/10 hearts! 👏👏 Thank you, Tiffany!

Drawn out

Some odd word useage - 'foothoods' instead of 'stirrups' springs to mind and equally odd pronunciations. Misconceptions and misunderstandings abound with everyone being tediously high-minded and noble.
