The Top 10 Bestseller

'Beautifully written, comforting and utterly uplifting, Lucy Coleman’s stories are the perfect tonic when life is a little grey.' Holly Martin

Is a change as good as a rest?

When married couple Fern and Aiden have a windfall, their reactions could not be more different. While Fern is content to pay off their mortgage and build a nest egg before starting a family, her husband is set on traveling the world.

Fern’s not much of a back-packer so, before she knows it, the idea of a ‘marriage gap year’ takes shape. And, as Aiden heads off to the wilds of Australia, Fern chooses the more restful Provence for her year out.

Set amidst the glorious French scenery, Château de Vernon offers a retreat from the hustle and bustle of normal life, and Fern agrees to help out in return for painting lessons from the owner – renowned, but rather troubled, painter Nico.

As their year unfolds in very different ways, will the time apart transform their marriage, or will it drive Fern and Aiden even further apart....

Whilst it took me a little while to get into the book I then found it interesting. It was a lovely read. I loved the way this book ended. Hats off to the author who gave an insight into how and what happened to the others characters.

Was a bit slow to progress. Quick to end. Wasn’t that satisfying of a read. Not as deep as I’d have hoped it would be

Slow read quick end

this story pulled me in, as a new artist myself ,as well as intuitive the story is yet another nudge from spirit to follow your dreams. Another great story about life love and unknown paths.

Hearts lost or just confused

Great fun and easy book to listen to.
I didn't realise the English use the word banter for conversation. We don't use it that much in Australia.

Fun easy listen

Characters were very undeveloped, especially the main character Fern, who seemed to have no faults or selfish thoughts ever. She seemed more like a woman of 45 than her late 20s, and i cant help thinking that others would have found her a bit painful and neurotic rather than being universally adored. The story was quite repetitive in the descriptions of her constant worries, and did a lot of telling rather than showing her development. Overall it was ok for a light hearted story, but nothing ground breaking

Characters were meh

Fern is way too mature and wise for an under-30-year-old! The author should have made her at least 5 years older and the mature voice of the narrator, while lovely, didn't really suit Fern's age. Otherwise, the story was delightful.

The protagonist should have been in her 30s
