Milo. Unusual. Quirky. Different. I’ve heard it all. I’ve accepted I’m not for everyone. When I find out I inherited a bookstore and apartment on a small East Coast island, I jump at the chance for a new life. Turns out I’ve also inherited a sexy, tattooed guy who not only rents the space next to my store but my apartment too. Gideon. I wasn’t looking for a roommate, but it’s not like I can stay at Milo’s place while he’s banished to a hotel. According to Milo, we’re bestie goals. And if he doesn’t wear pants at home, who am I to complain?

It started out as a little fun. When there was a man in my building on a hookup app, why not message him? Only we didn’t meet. We just texted - one night after the other, after the other. GoodWithHisHands was the perfect escape from my life, where pressure was always on my shoulders: my father’s expectations, the worry about my sister, Maddy, getting sick again, and her ex-husband, Ryder Lynwood, suddenly back and volunteering at the same hospital as me. I like talking to him, the same way I enjoy chatting with GoodWithHisHands. They weren’t supposed to be the same person.

Kind, caring, and protective. Those are the three qualities I’m looking for when it comes to my dream man. In a city as big as Chicago, you wouldn’t think he would be that hard to find, right? Wrong. Sure, my boss found a super-sexy detective and my best friend fell madly in love with the most eligible bachelor around. But the only person I’ve met recently is a broody bad boy who saved me at a sketchy pub. He’s grumpy, rude, and honestly, not that likeable at all. Hardly my “dream” guy. So why can’t I stop thinking about him?

The worst part of being in love with my straight best friend is the fact he’s too oblivious to see it. Years of pining have left me exhausted, and I need a break from Dex. I need space to get over my feelings. But when his relationship falls apart and he turns to me for comfort, I cave immediately. If there’s one thing I hate more than being hurt, it’s seeing Dex struggle. I can’t leave him in a time of need, even if my friends say it’s my biggest downfall. They say Dexter Mitchale is my weakness, but if that’s true, I don’t want to be strong.

The fall from NHL superstar to domestic disaster was swift and painful. When I became the legal guardian of my five younger siblings, I had no idea what I was doing. One year later, I'm still lost. Coaching CU's hockey team might be the only thing I'm excelling at. But when our star forward is failing math, I have to do what it takes to keep him on the team. Even if it's going head-to-head with Jasper Eckstein. One minute I'm confronting the notorious hockey-hating professor, and the next I'm agreeing to be his date to a twenty-year high school reunion. I don't know how that happened.

I’m a SEAL. Or rather, I was. Retired at the grand old age of 38, I’m at loose ends. My best friend wants me to join his security team. I’m not sure I’m bodyguard material, but he needs someone to protect his kid brother. How hard can spoiled brat duty be? Somehow, I missed the part where former child star Danny Love went from dorky TV darling to all grown up and disturbingly attractive. All the gossip about his wild ways fails to mention that he’s trying hard to clean up his act.

When it comes to hockey, I'm all about the game. I've worked for years to be one of the best in the league, and l've done it without splashing my orientation all over the tabloids. My hockey image is one I've carefully cultivated, and after one night with Ezra Palaszczuk, I risk it all. He's cocky, obnoxious, and has an ego bigger than Massachusetts. And okay, maybe he's the sexiest man I've ever known. We'll never get along. Not when we sleep together. Not even when my possessive streak awakens. That doesn't stop us from falling into bed together over and over again.

Publisher's Summary
I spent college worrying about responsibilities and earning my teaching degree, so before graduation and moving to Atlanta with my best friend, Ross, I figure I deserve a little fun. I’ve never been with an older man, but the guy at the bar grabs my attention and doesn’t let go…for multiple rounds, all night long.
The next day, when Ross introduces me to his dad, the last thing I expect is for him to be my hookup from the night before, in town from Atlanta for his son’s graduation.
The best thing would be to pretend it never happened, which is easier said than done. The more I talk to Harrison, the more I like him. We enjoy teasing each other, spending time together, and despite how successful he is, we both know what it’s like to have nothing. Neither of us wants a relationship, so when Harrison suggests a no-strings-attached fling, it’s perfect.
But between bills, worrying about Mom, and wondering how I thought I had what it takes to be a good teacher, Harrison’s always there, even when it’s hard for me to accept help.
Falling for Harrison wasn’t part of the agreement.
I don’t know how to trust, there’s a 17-year age difference, and he’s my best friend’s dad.
No-strings-attached has never been so difficult, because I’m pretty sure I want to be tied to Harrison for good.

Sweet best-friend’s father romance!
24 yo beginning teacher Zander initially regrets his steamy one-night stand with a sexy 41 yo guy when he finds out that Harrison is Zander’s best friend’s father. Unusually for this kind of trope, Harrison’s best friend, Ross, quickly accepts the situation and the journey is really about Zander and Harrison realising that their mutually-agreed no-strings-attached relationship has grown plenty of strings. I loved this sweet romance, especially Zander and Harrison’s caring interactions and their banter over the age difference. I also loved the exploration of rich vs poor and how they avoided an unhealthy power dynamic. This is a lovely feel-good story. Audio narrator Iggy Toma is a firm favourite, he’s an expert puller of heartstrings and he brings a lot of empathy to both characters.

Wonderful!
Revisited this gem on audio and Iggy Toma was just sublime. He brought Harrison and Zander to life just capturing all the banter, emotions, and love perfectly!
I loved absolutely everything about this book! From the first page to the last. It was just lovely. It made me laugh, it made my heart happy, and it made me feel good! Riley Hart just excels at writing character driven stories where I get immersed in their lives and don't want to stop reading about them. Harrison was just such an amazing character--wonderful father, great friend, kind, caring, and just an all around great person. Zander was more complex, kept himself more bottled up, didn't want to trust or let anyone in, but was such a kind soul who just needed to allow someone to love him.
I enjoyed every second of their time together. There was fabulous dialogue, sharp-witted banter, smoking hot times, and so many swoony moments with all the feelings! There was also a fantastic cast of supporting characters that were all so wonderful, with Ross leading the pack for me. I just loved him!
If you want a low-angst, feel good, put a smile on your face and make you laugh out loud book, with a fabulous HEA, grab this! Highly recommend!

beautiful
combine Riley Hart words with Iggy Toma narration and its pure love and 🥰 perfection. Iggy gives both Harrison & Zander such distinct voices its truly heartwarming.
on to the story itself this is not my usual trope but Riley does it in a way that's truly unique and a lot of it had to do with Ross (the best friend of Zander and son of Harrison) he is so understanding and charismatic encouraging the relationship because he can even see these 2 souls belong together ❤️.

so so.so worth a credit !!! i had this on my tbr for a while and put it off. i wish i had listened earlier. it was great and sweet and hot.and just a good cry makes your heart swell type of listen. im thrilled with how the author handled the characters and didnt make them run away from each other every 5 minutes just to tease them back together with nothing.resolved.
THIS is the opposite and i couldnt be happier with it!! and the narrators dis a wonderful job. voices were amazing and they portrayed the characters excellently.

Loved the narration.
I loved Iggy Toma's performance. Great delineation of character voices, nice pacing, timing, inflection, he delivers the whole shebang. 'Strings Attached' is a cute story, and even though there's a 17-year age gap, it just felt like it worked really well here because of the character's pasts. With some light angst sprinkled towards the end that had me impatiently waiting for the characters to finally admit their feelings to each other, in the end I enjoyed the story, and I loved the audio.

Narration is so bad I can't rate the story
The biggest issue is the narrator. One character, Xander, has a high spoken voice but a deep voice when it is his thoughts. The other MC, Harrison, had a deep spoken voice but a high voice when thinking. See the problem? It was the same voice! It was so difficult to tell when Xander was thinking and Harrison was talking that I gave up at chapter 2. Then tried again because I was on a road trip. I gave up again at chapter 9 because the story was too hard to follow because I would wonder why Xander said something but it turned out it was a thought of Harrison. Then I just quit entirely and wished I could get my money back. Maybe it's better if you've read it first.

Hard to finish
Iggy always delivers, so no issues there! I've enjoyed Riley Hart books before, but this one... It was cringy. 95% of the story is just to drive home how wonderful this older rich man was, and how amazing the poor younger guy is. Like who owns a bunch of car lots and just thinks, "I feel like giving away cars to poor people today!" ?! That's exactly how out of the blue and over the top it was presented. Don't get me started on this looser mom that lets some man walk all over her and her kids over and over again! The whole time her son is singing her praises and talking about how hard her life is and how hard she tries. Not one of the characters felt real or genuine. If a poor, struggling person started dating someone who owned ALL the cars, has a shitty car that brakes down, they would NOT hesitate to except the gift of a car! FFS! The whole thing is just... CRINGE! 🤢

The best!
I absolutely loved everything about this audiobook! All the feelings!! Iggy Toma did an amazing job narrating this book, I love every minute of this audio! This book is a age gap, dad’s best friend, low angst and super steamy!!! The story between Zander and Harrison was simply amazing, I can describe the many emotions that they make me feel, their journey was so lovely and full of happy moments, they make me smile, laugh and cry with them! Oh my heart! I love this two! Harrison was such an amazing character, great dad, good friend, and an amazing friend and lover for Zander, he was so caring and wants to be there for him but respect his boundaries. Zander was a very complex character, he kept everything bottled up, he was afraid of trusting others and didn’t let anyone in, it hurt my heart watching him struggle, but he was a kind soul and he just need to realize that he was important and others really care for him.
I like that there was no drama between Zander and Ross how was is best friend and the relationship between him and his dad, also the relationship between Harrison and his son really good. The communication between all of them was very enjoyable and I love the dialogues between them. The banter between Zander and Harrison were amazing they really complement each other, the sexy times were so hot and steamy! This was an amazing and emotional journey, with a great HEA!!!!! I highly recommended!!!
