Fundamentally decent but desperate, Kyle lets Jeff, his best friend, talk him into robbing guests at a resort where they both work. Kyle is uncomfortable but his parents risk losing their house due to health bills. Family-business tycoon Maddox is incredibly wealthy but frazzled and he’s looking forward to a couple of weeks of R&R at the resort of an old friend and the chance to put some distance between him and Nadia, a pushy FWB girlfriend. Maddox and Kyle are equally entranced with each other and when Kyle is caught red-handed, Maddox gives him a second chance by employing him as a gardener on his estate. Things finally seem to be going Kyle’s way but he and Maddox seriously underestimate a woman scorned.

The plot of this fairytale romance reads like a daytime soap opera—there’s lots of high drama, evil scheming, and twists and turns. That was entertaining, however, I struggled with the instalove and found it hard to respect the characters at first: Maddox seemed to let Nadia walk all over him and blurred the lines between professional and private; Kyle was nice but weak and gullible; and Nadia and Jeff had absolutely no redeeming features. Once the “holiday” ended, Maddox and Kyle both grew in my estimation but the romance felt rushed. Much loved voice actors John Solo (as Kyle) and Kirt Graves (as Maddox) performed well (currently free on the Audible Plus catalogue).
