About this listen

Your next perfect listen from Jill Mansell, Sunday Times bestselling author of MAYBE THIS TIME. Not to be missed if you love the novels of Katie Fforde and Milly Johnson.

Daisy MacLean runs the country house hotel owned by her flamboyant father, Hector. When she hears who's about to get married there, she isn't worried at all - her friend Tara absolutely promises there won't be any trouble between her and ex-boyfriend Dominic, whom she hasn't seen for years. But Dominic has other ideas...

Meanwhile, Hector's getting up to all sorts with...well, that's the village's best kept secret.

And then Barney turns up, with a little something belonging to the husband Daisy's been doing her best to forget.

That's the thing about hotels, you never know who you're going to meet. Or whether they're going to stay...

Read for you by Penelope Freeman, narrator of NADIA KNOWS BEST and SOLO by Jill Mansell.

What a wonderful narration.
I just can't believe all the characters, accents and animal noises done so seemingly effortlessly. I'm an Aussie, so that's not lightly said.
As usual, Jill produced another complex gem and I cried a lot, recognising my own story in there. Plenty of humour and witty sarcasm.

Penelope, you're a star!

Quite entertaining but somewhat predictable. I enjoyed the readers accents and how they stayed true to the characters.

Daisy was carrying baggage from her past marriage and struggled to believe it wasn’t going to happen again.
She kept the Dominic dangling for far too long which spoilt a grand story otherwise.
The side characters were great, especially Hector and Tara.

I love Jill Mansell’s book, but really loved this one............lots of tingles with Daisy and Dev.......would have liked more of him in the book but it still worked. And Clarissa definitely stole the show......dog lovers will love her. Don’t hesitate on this one.

Probably my favourite
