Publisher's Summary

This program is read by the author.

A leadership book by former Navy SEAL and New York Times best-selling author Mark Divine, Staring Down the Wolf focuses on harnessing the principles of purpose and discipline in life to achieve success.

What does it take to command a team of elite individuals? It requires a commitment to seven key principles: Courage, Trust, Respect, Growth, Excellence, Resiliency, and Alignment. All of these are present in an elite team which commits to them deeply in order to forge the character worthy of uncommon success.

Retired Navy SEAL Commander, entrepreneur and New York Times best-selling author Mark Divine (founder of SEALFIT, NavySeal.com, and Unbeatable Mind) reveals what makes the culture of an elite team, and how to get your own team to commit to serve at an elite level. Using principles he learned on the battlefield, training SEALs, and in his own entrepreneurial and growth company ventures, Mark knows what it is to lead elite teams, and how easily the team can fail by breaching these commitments.

Elite teams challenge themselves to step up everyday to do the uncommon. Developing the principles yourself and aligning your team around these commitments will allow you to thrive in VUCA (volatility, uncertainty, complexity, ambiguity) environments, no matter your background or leadership experience. Drawing from his 20 years leading SEALs, and 25 years of success and failure in entrepreneurship and 10 years coaching corporate clients, Mark Divine shares a very unique perspective that will allow you to unlock the tremendous power of your team.

Not a rehash.

I was afraid that this would be a rehash or merging of his two previous books but he came in and built on them. Adding to previous concepts he’s introduced.

This is a definite recommended read for anyone of any occupation because being an effective leader doesn’t begin in a “leadership” position.

Could have been way shorter

Overall this book was okay, but it could have been summed up. It was very repetitive which I guess was done for emphasis and to give it a mantra feel. Mark has lived an interesting life that is certainly worth reading about! This book may be better suited as an actual book and not audio in order to refer back to key ideas easily and practice the exercises.

Excellent

Easy to listen to and follow. Useful and interesting. I liked the story about the woman being the best poacher hunters. Now I feel that I really need to dial in my breathing and meditation practices and take on a material art, as well as become successful in the business world.

absolutely solid!

once again, Mark brings uncommon wisdom to us. this book, and much of Mark's work is different from many of the seals that we get a chance to hear from. Mark calls us to look inward, stating that growth should be above achievement. I think that's exactly right. this is definitely a book I'll be recommending.

Good principles. Liked it at the beginning.

really good leadership principles awesome story. Definitely a development of a no quit attitude in life. The last few chapters though wasn't my cup of tea kind of ruined it for me. The idea of a one basically world government huge issue with that. The idea that I'm never being organized a great theory but I think it's a unrealistic reality
