About this listen

The final novel in the heartwarming Lancashire-based Gibson Family series by beloved saga author Anna Jacobs.

It is 1860 in Bilsden, the Lancashire mill town, and Frederick Hallam is dying. But first he makes secret plans to smooth the future path for his beloved wife Annie. Her sister, Joanie, is fed up with everything until a dshing new admirer crosses her path. But a spurned suitor is determined that Joanie will be his, whatever the cost. And he is not the only one who wants to harm the Gibson family.

Meanwhile the Civil War in America cuts off cotton supplies, so that times are hard in Bilsden and unemployment is rife. Annie had to rebuild her life after her husband's death and plans to create Spinners Lake, an extraordinary project that will keep her workers from destitution and assuage her own grief.

Tian Gilchrist is caught up in the American war and nearly dies there. He fights his way back to Bildsen, to Annie, whom he has never forgotten.

And the plans that Frederick made for Annie will change her life in unforeseen ways, bringing her hope and happiness once again...

Enjoyed the final in this set of books but very disappointed that they changed the narrator. It took most of the book to get use to the change in the voice of the characters.

Great final in the Gibson story

The story was great just disappointed in the accents , Anna,s other stories in this series were great and easy to listen to. However I wouldn't recommend listening to this due only to the teller.

Great story, such a shame about the ascents

I have loved the characters of this series which made me give this final book a go although the reviews are disappointing with reference to the narrator. Unfortunately my love of the characters was also lost with this narrator and I couldn’t bear to listen to it.

The narration was very disappointing

And they all lived happily ever after…. Ok book for easy listening, but no great story line.

The story great, but ruined by the narrator I wish Anne Dover had read this as she had with the rest of the series. I found Julie's voice irritating, particularly with the men's. Spoilt the story for me.
